I needed power cables for connecting two bus boards, couldn't find anything locally, and they sent me a free set along with one of their bumper stickers.
there's 4 mono ins on the bottom section, 4 stereo ins on the top. then there's a main out, but also a stereo and mono out. and an X-Fade out. i've used it as 2 sub mixers with their own outs, and one can always record the stereo in and split the recording into right and left and have another pair of sub mixes.
even before getting into using it as a bunch of VCAs (the expander gives CV over each channel), the X-Fade or the self patching options, it's always been a super versatile little mixer for the size for me?

I like vortices for a 6U mixer. I’ve enjoyed playing with the various routing options. But the way the rest of my system is set up I need some sort of attenuation to limit clipping into my mixer. For bigger setups, I still love the WMD Performance Mixer.
Something is still look at is the Toppobrillo mixer he’s about to put up for preorder. I think the details are somewhere on modwiggler.
Speaking of, I pretty much exclusively use the F8R sliders into the Vortices expander to control levels on it. The layout is absolutely crap with inputs on top and bottom. Just put all the jacks on top and do some panel design. It would have been better!
lol. i feel you. i'm not totally the target audience for that module, i pretty much set it and forgot it. or use envelopes into the VCA per channel expander. but for people that actually want to manipulate the knobbers, not the best layout.
still digging SSF's flange/comb filter/nasty noise module. spacing the name.
got in a Takaab Rat In A Module distortion, wanted one to run 303 type stuffs into.
annnnnnnd the GR-1 got in. SO furking pretty. doing a bit of a studio shuffle this weekend soon as the synth stand gets in for that section, hoping to play with the GR-1, which needs a WAY better name, soon.

awesome. I've looked at their stuff so many times, such destruction.
their modules are cool af, but the power supplies are where it's at. unbeatable bang for buck.
Yes but be careful if you buy a case from them. Their 200hp (m202 I think) is not 200hp. More like 198. If you have perpendicular pcb on one of your modules then you can get 200hp buy installing it in one of the extremities of the bottom row. But if you only have parrallel pcb modules you are getting about 198hp. I would not be suprised if that is the case with all of their cases. Other than that yeah I love my m202
sneakies. i had a similar problem with a... Mono Rocket case? i think from them. had some weird extra stuff near the power supply input. had to hacky'saw at it to fit modules there.
murf. i don't really WANT any silver modules, but they had an E520 in stock in silver at Control Voltage. ordered, have a bud that wants it if a) i don't dig it, b) i find a black one.
looks crazy powerful.

the same melody the piano is playing midway through, i recorded an EP instrument in Kontakt playing that, that's the loop the GR-1 is meandering through.
it's fun to use so far except... murf. with how much is knob per function on the front, holy DICKBUTT there is a lot of menu to change anything else. most of it's intuitive enough to not need to manual dive, but that coupled with how annoying the file system is for saving/loading/renaming, dunno if i'll keep it.
annnnnnd as good as it sounds and as fun as it is to play with, i'm getting clicks and pops like butts. smoothed them out in that YT vidja with audio restoration tools in Sound Forge, but that's... that's not a good thing. it might be that i normalized the sample file to louder than the GR-1 is good with playing with, but i tried a bunch of volume options on the unit, didn't decrease any of the pops and/or clicks. was only running one sample without a ton of grains too so.... need to investigate, but a little worrying.

oof. hunting down a black Maths must have been a biiiiiitch. ALL. FOR NAUGHT? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
yeah. that's never going to happen with me. i'm super happy with my main rack, the effects section was s'posed to be mix and matchable, don't mind transitions there.
watched all the (surprisingly few) vidjas on the E520, suuuuper excited. mines ships on Tuesday.

murrrrrr... it was about a year or so ago, so it's had a TON of development since then. it was a very cool tracker, and had it's own way of doing some stuff, but it was super easy to adapt to. pretty damn powerful.
when i had it, it didn't have any scale constriction stuff, that was annoying. beyond that, i can't remember anything i didn't like?
it's a powerHOUSE to build a system around though. has a ton of ins and outs and expansion options.
i like the Erica Black sequencer a lot better, but that looks like they played around with the FLXS1 and said, "cool ideas. let's FIX THEM.".
