So I'm getting married in April, as most of you know. My best man was a friend of mine for the past 8 years. We actually met online, on Last.fm, and became great friends. He lives in NYC, me in Baltimore. We talked almost every day for 5 years straight, met in person and hung out a few times. I asked him to be in the wedding and he was honored. But ever since the last time we hung out, he'd been kind of distant.
I admit I was busy as shit with finishing school, and some personal things, and I couldn't talk as much. He told me last week that he couldn't be in the wedding. I rolled with it. I still had my friend from Richmond, and my fiance's maid of honor's boyfriend. Well, my good friend from Richmond calls tonight and also drops. He's going to be touring Europe 4 days after the wedding, has to help pay for gear rental and van usage while in Europe, so he can't afford to pay for tux and gas to get up here as well as save for the money he needs on tour as well as rent for when he returns after he is gone.
So now I've got just my maid of honor's boyfriend. We haven't known each other that long, and we don't talk that much. I just feel like he's all I've got now and I didn't even necessarily want him in the wedding party. And then I thought about it some more and realized most of my friends have either stopped talking to me, don't talk to me, or I've just lost contact with them....

Dude, that blows. Do you have a brother perchance or manly sister? My cousin had a flower-boy at her wedding, he's gay for the record, but it was fine. Make a new tradition.

Yup, friends come and go but your Dad is Dad forever...even if he isn't around much.
Who knows, after this you may see him a lot more.

He actually lives in upstate New York, and I'm down here in Baltimore. Maybe not see him more, but maybe hear from him a little more than once a month..

I can't get my Strings and Beyond gift certificate to work.
I was going to order 1,000 sets of strings.
EDIT: Got it. Damn websites.
