Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
yeah. for me, my favorite euro delay has always been Chronoblobber 2. it's just so damn playable and fun. but i end up using Data Bender for the glitchy clicky stuff i adore out of Chronz, so wanted to try a big fat lush delay.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah I have Chrono 2 and I luurrrvve it. Tempted by the Sarajewo 'cos of that sound, as the chrono sounds boring on its own, but obviously that is very easy to fix with patching!! I don't think I could really replace it with anything better because it packs so much in

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
not modular, even though the plan is to record down phrases and lines from modular loots to build songs off of, but i have a MPC One hitting by this Friday.
annnnnnnnnd a Toraiz Squid coming Tuesday hopefully.
kinda hate the drum sequencing on the SQ-64. the melodics is fun, but the drums has a bunch of problems.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
yep! i've always wanted to dive into MPC land, but never paid much attention to them. i've never used samplers much, they're pretty inscrutable to me. but the huge touchscreen on the One seems to dispel a lot of the Old School Systems Magic DJ Skeelz'ness of them that's always frightened me.
sort of modular related - i love the Shard and Underwurlde from X1LR, but they felt cramped and hard to use in euro format. have a desktop version of each en route. woot?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
feeeeel that. there's less options going from the Metron and WMD drum modules to the Erica Drum seq and drum modules, but the extra space is GOOD. and having them all perma-wired with the gate and accents inside of the rack is GOOD.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
The doepfer a-133-2 is great but damn those jacks are crammed in. One is bad enough
I can also see myself getting more bigger stuff at some point (e.g. sacrifice some things for a normal size rings) because big modules with good ergonomics are nice

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
nope! i WANT to like Befaco, but i've had half their stuff arrive DOA, half be perfect for what they are. but never tried their delay.
super digging the Sarajewo though.
got the Shard and Underwurlde in. doing stuff with the wife tonight, trying them out with that nasty DBA reverb i think?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
jebus. just been swamped lately. i started taking piano lessons, and as awful as i still am, it's such a blast to learn/noodle on, whenever i sit down for what i think will be just a few minutes turns into an hour or two. super enjoying it.
i don't even close to have enough space for an actual piano (and would have to stick with it at least a year and get decent before THAT big an investment), so i'm using an M-Audio Hammer 88 key controller with a piano sampler patch in Kontakt. i think Grandeur? sounds good enough to me, way less space.
got a JBL sub in to match with the LSR305s i use as monitors, durped and spaced getting the extra XLR cables. those get in today.
doing a retool because i just don't ever use the semi modular stuff. sold the No Coast and No Ctrl, have the DFAM and SubHarmonicon listed. i love the sequencer on the SubHarm, but kinda hate the way the oscs sound. weird. if there was a box/module that would just the SubHarm sequencer out to other oscs? GIMMS.
buuuuuut that gave me room to order a Tasty Chips GR-1. which i have been lusting after FOREVER. also a Night Sky on the way. been missing the Big Sky, wanted to try the New Jenk.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
yeppers! traditional pianos have 88 keys, the hammer action makes it feel really close to a piano. lol. or. at least. close to the one piano i've used a bit, the one at the place i take lessons.
right? it's a bitch to integrate semi modular stuff sometimes. great as a starter, and all 4 i had that i'm selling/sold sounded/worked awesome. just not for me right now.
murrrr. boof. they shipped quick! Tasty granular goodness should be here Wednesday. WOOT.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I find mixing a couple of waveforms at different rates can create very random sounding CV - obviously it'll have a periodicity but if you tweak the rates of the different waves this can be very long / impossible to notice. Just patch a sine wave, a square wave, whatever else into a mixer? If you have anything to S+H that source signal, even better I guess.
