it's just a p bass with a pretty neck
it's just a p bass with a pretty neck
it's just a p bass with a pretty neck
THIS MANTRA WILL PROTECT ME
Sup with the thing about the action in his description though -- is he just not setting it up correctly or what? Can you even adjust the necks on these?

I'm not quite sure what he's talking about, because damn near impossible for the aluminum neck to bow, it looks flush in the neck pocket, and it doesn't look like the bridge is coming up at all. Under the neck plate are 3 screws that attach the body to the neck, in a line of about 1 1/2" - 2", so it's bolted on decently. The action on my Kramer looks to be about as high as that one. I guess he must just like his strings pretty much sitting on the frets? Any lower and you'd be getting close to hitting the pickups. It looks set up just fine!!

I don't know anything about aluminum instruments, but you guys seem to be really into them. What's up with them!?

I first got obsessed with them from an aesthetic standpoint. I think they're beautiful in all shapes and forms. From Travis Beans, to Vacarro, the beautiful and elegant Wandre, to the rad customizational EGC, to the utilitarian Obstructures. The more I read into the aluminum, the more it appealed to me. So I searched far and wide until I happened upon my first aluminum instrument, which was my Kramer bass.
It's a heavy instrument. I would complain, but the SOUND that comes out of it is worth it. Lower lows. Frequencies I've never heard or felt out of a wooden bass. Sustain out the roof. A growl unlike any other. I can literally hold a note almost for 1.5-2 minutes on the bass, and around the same with my Obstructures.
The craftsmanship on these old Kramers is a thing of beauty. From the 350's and 450's to the DMZs, you can tell that Kramer really cared about each instrument they put out.
My Obstructures is newer to me, and different than the Kramer in that it is all aluminum. It's bright sounding, and has even MORE sustain than the Kramer. And I like the feeling that if I drop it, or it falls, I really have nothing to worry about with it. They've just got this sound to them which RULES, and they look cool to boot!

hahahahah I TOTALLY FEEL YOU. I'm surprised it hasn't been nabbed yet. It's one of the cheaper that I've seen considering in the past 3-4 months everyone has been trying to sell them at what Beans were going for a few years ago
