Yeah I think presets are a really useful thing when you have so many possibilities. That being said, I think preset scrolling on CBA pedals has always been kinda tricky.

haha yeah just saw that. I can see that being annoying as a builder for sure. you just want to make and sell cool things not fuel this secondary industry. That said I do think their hype machine practices kinda set this stuff up, to some extent? Everything dropping on one day, teasers, demos released on the day. I'm not criticising, because I'm sure whatever else they did somebody would find fault with that too. I'm sure they never intended for this or anything. But it's just... meh

I’m flashing back to the CT-5 flipper industry back when it was pretty small batches and the amount in the wild hadn’t remotely caught up with demand. That wasn’t a “speak now or hold your peace” scenario, but there was a big premium on the secondary market for quite a while.

So even if this becomes a regular item, you might see some flipping at a premium to those who can’t wait for the next batch. I think there already was some of that on the Blooper.

Does this suck? Yes. But it could be worse for players trying to get in on these for the original price. Dutch auction: CBA wants to sell 1000, solicits bids for all; people bid the most they want to pay; the pedals all sell at the lowest high price that will move all 1000 units. If 1000 people will pay $600 or more, your $550 bid is SOL. The mechanism is to let the original seller capture closer to the full market pricing, rather than the secondary sellers. But CBA couldn’t sell any to skint musicians who are stretching just to get to $400. So I’m not sure that’s an improvement.

The guy who was doing Ayahuascas until the final round tried to do a subjective application process in the hopes of placing them for use and not flipping. Didn’t seem to work much better.

So I think the only way to make the Bliss Factory release less of a clusterfuck would have been to not go limited. But remember the CT5 flippers—unless you can instantly match demand, there will be flippers.

Idk, maybe they could open up a preorder slot type deal for a day or so and everyone could buy in. Don't make the quantity known and a lot more people would have a shot at it?

I think the only problem with that or making more is that its one of zvex flagship pedals and kinda makes it harder for him to sell them going forward because of this version basically having all the FF variants in it.

I dunno, it was obvious that $400 for the Bliss Factory was way underpriced relative to what they would end up going for on the used market. That's part of the reason it sold so quickly. For Korte to now be like "gee golly didn't realize they would go so fast!" and clutching his pearls seems a bit disingenuous. He moved massive product quickly, and I'm betting he knew exactly what he was doing. He's running a business, after all. At that point, the secondary market is just acting like a dealer for him.

I still stand by the pre-order window being the safest bet if there needs to be a "limited run". A blacklist on people who are flipping them in a day would be great but seems difficult to accomplish.

Came by to see what y'all were saying about the Mother Tongue and I'm feeling the same way. I've long dreamt of a really good formant filter pedal, but I would really love to hear it on something besides guitar - especially *that* style of guitar playing. The price tag stopped me from hopping on board out of sheer curiosity, but I also really love those folks (they're incredibly kind souls & put my band up on tour once) and wanna support them.

I don't have them on my board right now but I love the Outer Rings and Dream Reaper so I'm definitely interested. Looking forward to other demos
