That show makes me cringe whenever I happen to see it on.

We started watching Dope.
Couple episodes in.
I'm confused as to how they're able to film both sides of the coin (law enforcement and dealers/users) --but it's pretty engaging and horrifying at the same time.

The live action Ghost in the Shell is far worse than I imagined. A catastrophic misinterpretation of the source's themes, completely jumbled up plot, it made The Matrix seem clever. My gf said "at least the art direction is good" but how can you say that when all the designs, almost every frame, have been lifted from stuff that's 20 years old?

yeahhhhhhhhh. i'm annoyed the OG version of GitS isn't watchable on Bluray. just the Lucas'd Up 2.0 version. i mean, i guess it's nice they included the original in DVD quality but. DVD quality. and i think it's only dubbed?
but yeah. fuck watching a United State'ian butchering of one of the best films evah.

I have watched a few episodes of Brittania on Amazon Prime. Pretty decent show, kind of scratches the Game of Thrones itch.

I have the anniversary edition bluray they put out a few years ago which is the OG upscaled. I've never actually sat and watched it but I think it's just upscaled, not remastered in any way except I think they finally did a 5.1 mix of the dub (which is a mixed bag all on its own)
also tbf the changes in the 2.0 redux aren't *completely* awful and I can see why they'd want it to promote it alongside Innocence (which is also REALLY good, arguably better and more interesting than the first).

yeah. it's not that the changes are horrible, it's that they're..... changes. that's one of the things that annoys me the most about modern media. they feel the need add CG or textures or alter the story..... fine. but make the original available.
and you have to buy the upscaled version, because as tv's/monitors/projection surfaces get larger and higher resolution, older formats look so baaaaaad.
with GitS it bothers me that they made it look like Innocence (which i liked a lot too), because the amazing thing about the OG GitS was how beautiful everything hand drawn looked and the purposeful contrast to any CG used. it's almost like shitting all over the origianl artists work, that had to take FORever.
part of why i have such little interest in Star Wars stuff any more. original trilogy was something i watched at least once a year my whole life. and that version, the stories i grew up with, just. don't. exist anymore.
fuck Lucas.
....... i would be into watching the anniversary edition. will look for. 2.0..... did not make me happy.
fucking changed the COLOR SCHEME. eat a dick. leave the things i love be.

The
props are amazing, though (not surprising since they were done by Weta).

You can really tell what parts they'd been preparing for forever (like the good physical effects) as opposed to the bad rushed cg scenes that they clearly pulled out of their butts at 5pm on a friday.
I reserved judgement on the whole whitewashing thing till I'd seen it - you can't always predict how something is going to come across in a given context, particularly in a world nuanced as GitS - but it's not just whitewashing in GitS, it's full-on offensive. White lady with superpowers finds out she was really asian before they "enhanced" and "augmented" her? How did nobody tell them how bad that is? It's just symptomatic of little the people involved understood what they were adapting. It's like they just watched the Oshii film and the abridged SAC films, listed roughly what happens in them, then did a Burroughs cut-up job and called it a script.

Way late on this special, but it's very good.

They wanted a high budget familiar lead already proven in what amounts to the same role for the common fan. "Look ma! Black Widow is a robot!!"
I didn't hate it, but yeah it had glaring deficiencies. I have my original and beloved VHS copy of GitS.. And recently discovered the horror of what all the various DVD/Blu-ray versions entail.. ended up with the DVD version since it's not adulterated from the original at all.
The Unabomber special on Netflix is good. I went and did some reading after watching part of it .. what a strange fucking dude..
The chasing monsters show is fun for kids. My boy loves it and has all these great questions about the fish. I am a big fisherman so I was pretty excited to see his interest in the bigass gnarly fish.

Hey, Altered Carbon is fun to watch. Like if Blade Runner didn't take itself so seriously.
Lots of tits, but an enjoyable show to back them up

I need to read the book to see if it's as edgy as this show is trying to be.
I get that full frontal nudity and graphic sex is "in", but it's still silly when it's done to this extent in a show like this.
I came to see Blade Runner the TV show, but somehow I ended up watching Blade Runner the porno.

There's a lot of nudity in the 2 episodes I saw but it didn't distract me too bad. The main character seems a little stereotypical mysterious badass but slightly less so by the end of episode 2
