I want to play the SH2 remake, but I don't own a PS5 and for whatever reason I'm thinking I won't enjoy playing a horror game on my PC. Something about not sitting back in a couch for that sort of game doesn't feel right.

Exactly the same position and despite it being nearly Christmas, I feel Black Friday calling...

I've collected wayyyy too many retro games. So, I've been trying to force myself to play them by having a rule that I can't buy a game unless I beat one of the games I already own. It's working so far, but I think I might up it to one new game for every two beaten (I typically play through about 25ish games a year).

Have been too tired to stay up late and game lately... One the rare occasion that I actually boot up my PC and hang out in Discord with my friends, I just end up playing Carmageddon 1. It is dumb, nostalgic fun

Yeah, I'm mostly there as well, having played Overwatch (well, Overwatch 1+2, which is basically the same game) for almost 8 years now. I played on a team for a while and not too long ago I grinded my way to the Grandmaster rank and got in the top 500 for my role (tank), which was cool, but now I'm just playing it because it's an easy game to get into for a match or two at the end of the day. Me and the wife usually play a few 15-20 minute games after putting the kiddo to bed. She is ranked two brackets below me (Diamond), so I play on an alt account and just try stupid strats. It's a good way to wind down for me. Only other games that really interest me are high quality co-op and/or horror games that we can play together, and those are far and few between.
For true nostalgia injection, I have been thinking about getting another retro handheld. Nostalgia did get the best of me last time and I ended up with one that is shaped like an OG Gameboy, but the form factor is very straining on my aging wrists. Great for revisiting GB games, but that gets old pretty fast. Currently considering the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, which can run Dreamcast and PS2 emulation and below, and it's only $185.

I’ve been on a CS2 kick recently, especially with the new updates—they’ve really fine-tuned the experience. If you’re into games with trading systems, you might find this interesting:
the new CS2 Armory update adds some cool features to explore.
For fighting games, I used to play Street Fighter 4 a lot but haven’t kept up with the newer entries. How’s BlazBlue? I’ve always been curious about its mechanics and art style.

The retroid pocket 4 pro looks really nice. I have a handheld that runs on the same chipset. The dreamcast emulation is really good. The ps2 emulation isn't always great, but you can definitely get good performance with the right settings. The retroid pocket has pretty solid community support. So, you should be able to get the specific settings you need for any game you have.
I've decided I'm not getting another android based retro-gaming device, tho. Android has too many annoying quirks that are difficult, or impossible, to workaround. Also, you have to deal with paid apps and updates. Those problems are present in other things as well, but I find it particularly annoying on android.
