Yeah I used to have a Zadar as well and I'm a pretty big fan of all of the Xaoc modules in general. I've been considering grabbing a Zadar too. It's definitely a better size, but it's not quite as immediate and intuitive to me.

meh. hated the Zadar. rather have a Maestro or Voltage Block. Zadar was just, for me, the worst combination of hard to program and minimal'ness (shut up. it's a word.) of function.
not related. at all. but i just ordered a Yamaha Reface CP and was looking at vidjas and found this and LOVE -

i love watching people make beautiful tracks with a small amount of gear they know hellza well.
it'ssssssss humbling? and makes me want to downsize to 3 pieces of loot and just learn that inside and out?

Agree that chopped Microfreak looks sweet but one day I'll probably want to use the arp and then would feel bad I chopped the keyboard off.
In other news, my uPlaits arrived yesterday and does what I want it to do (plink plonk). To wit:

This is awesome! I am really enjoying playing different instruments into Strega. I did a little experiment running Werkstatt into it last night. Still have lots to learn about it all

yah. i just... don't love most synth sequencer things. always feels like anything i can hack together is such a compromise because sequencing/arp'ing is almost a throw in, i'd rather do it better and with more control from something built from the ground up to be a You Make THIS Noise When I Furking SAY YOU DO YO box?
thanks! really, really digging Stregs. 'm curious about running the EssenceFM into her.

My heart still wants the Erica Black Sequencer, but my mind knows that means getting a mini control pod for it and all the extra cost that entails. :C

friendos, my soldering iron is hungry and I would like to do some interesting projects. I am not that good at soldering, but what would be some good kits to try? There are lots of things I have to add
This is the rack as it currently is

Do you want to do through-hole soldering or SMD ? What have you soldered already ? I started with pedal building (through hole) and have now soldered almost all the eurorack modules I have myself..
Nonlinear circuits has easy smd and through hole.. Doboz has cool diy projects, Ornament and Crime is a must have DIY module, Music Thing Modular has cool and easy projects, there are many easy Mutable modules, Befaco... There is too much good stuff in eurorack diy, I need another life to build everything I want to build
PS. don't think it will be cheaper, because you will want more and more

I've built a few pedals of varying functionality, but I mainly mess up the off-board wiring. Never done SMD components, which looks a bit finicky but I am sure that I'd be able to if I just do not overdose on coffee right before. Right? All you'd need is tweezers as an extra tool, or am I wrong?
I have been thinking about an ornament and crime, as well as the Befaco Even VCO. Sooner or later I think the Chipz module is gonna go, but not before I need some more space
Important to know is that I send all of this to the Octatrack inputs for live-looping and sampling and drums, wherefrom I also get my clock and the sequencing on the cv/gate 1 and 2. Cellz is a pretty dope sequencer as well I find

Yes, SMD is super doable, especially size 0805. You don't even need a fine solder tip for that. Tweezers, yes, like
https://www.thonk.co.uk/shop/smd-tweezers/
Ornament and crime is 0805. I also started with a Befaco VCO and really like the sound. But also check the Doboz VCO, it has a really cool set of functions. And was even easier to build, or I became more experienced.
