thanks Mudder! yah, i have to go to Tokyo for some dramatic stuff on the 9th, it's pushing us back some, but we're trying to get some studio time next month. i'm nervous about the bass getting done right, it's not CRAZY weird, but the extra range and effects make me worried a tad.

Galactipi - oof. i.... adore her too much and think of her as a little sister WAY to much to suggest it or be comfy with it... but the middle pantless grrL is RIDICULOUS. MEOW.

Speaking as a guy who's played in small-band keyboard-heavy setups (my last thing was a two-piece, and the singer also played synths and the occasional drum pad) (we had pre-recorded beats, but that's a whole 'nother conversation), the trick is getting the keys person used to addressing the audience as much as possible. A lot can be done just with judicious mic placement, and floor layout - getting the keys so they're at a 45 degree angle to the audience istead of 90 degrees, with the mic set up a little closer to facing the audience. Then getting the singer used to leaning out of the synth-corner as much as possible, even leaving it when other band members are holding down the sound, etc. A lot can be done, and Syren definitely deserves more interacting-with-the-audience-time. But it will come with practice, for sure.

good advice homie! yeah, she actually chafes a little (more than a little) at the restraint of holding down keys as well as vocals. but we're all in agreement on wanting to make it work with 3 instead of 4 if possible.

i'll pass on what you said and we'll toy with it.

didn't show in that vid, but she realized she was turning her back on the audience and me sometimes with that setup and 'caues she had her pedalboard (you have no idea how giddy it makes me that she has a pedalboard for her vocals) on the ground. we're thinking of setting the laptop on the side, mounting her pedals on the top tier. might make her more visible, that and angling better might help?

i really appreciate all the inputs y'all. i.... i love you people. love you HARD. but unsatisfyingly quickly. i get too excited.

SOOO...I went with a ModFactor instead of a Boss PH3 (decent but cheap) and some cheapie chorus, because damn, it can do a lot. I know Sousa didn't like it. I know the pedal is deep and I am not going to lie like I am going to unlock all possibilities, but I glanced at the manual online and wow. It seems like it can do what I want, Bi Phasing, Chorus, and Tremolo with tons of different wave forms on each one, expression pedal can control any parameter and multiple parameters at once. Undulator seems dope.

So, pedalboard is done (for now). bass>MarkBass SuperSynth(for synth or octave)>MXR M108 10 band eq(fine tune MBSS)>wounded paw parallel blender with B3K and Magnetar in the blender>Modfactor>Vox DelayLab with expression pedals

So everything but the blender and B3K are on there way plus the Dingwall and a Fender MIA 5 string PBass with John East Retro preamp and all kinds of other upgrades.

SO IT"S FUCKING CHRISTMAS WEEK FOR ME!

nah.. just have them facing straight out, saves space and makes the audience have to look at them head on :thumb:

The only prob with that is when the synths sprawl too high vertically, which is the problem we had. Also, by having them 45 from the audience, it was easier for my singer to get more of his body facing the audience, which made it feel like he was stepping away from the keys to be the frontman without actually straying that far from 'em. I assumed that Syren might need to do the same since she's on the shorter side.

But really, whatever works. The main thing is getting her to look at the crowd more!

Behndy, I definitely dig that track, it's some good shit. And I like the jamming in the intro.

I know that Behndy said that it was the video glitching, but that sounded EXACTLY like this one specific setting I used to set my Mid-Fi Glitch Computer on. You could definitely do that with a GC.

If she's fine with moving the laptop to the side you can easily have her face the audience straight on with her current keyboard/stand setup. Somebody mentioned chains, how about adding an actual chain or leash? You should have plenty of those around.

The intro was very Ladytron-like, well done!
