Here's a sale from last month (which is on the high side for a US listing).

$159 + shipping, listed in great condition.

Here's the Soundgas price. $565 + shipping. ---That's an increased asking price of 255%. I would consider a 255% differential obscene, considering it's not a rare or highly-coveted item. The TR-66 is not exactly a landmark piece with a cult-like following. It's just a run-of-the-mill drum machine, but to see a $565 asking price for a beater like that, you'd think it was something quite special. That's nearly twice what you'd pay for an SR-95 on a good week.

If you follow enough specialty items over time, you'll actually see instances where Soundgas has bought items in solid, working condition and then marked them up by >300%. They were in clean, usable condition at the time they were acquired. They didn't need weeks of calibration and refurbishing. They're just straight-up flipping for an audience, that doesn't do their homework. You call them experts. I call them opportunists. Some of the Soundgas audience is certainly somewhat knowledgeable, but a lot of their business is clearly built upon relationships with people too lazy to do their own research.

Take a look at my example above.
Is the burden of education on the seller or the consumer? If they were as obscenely overpriced as you claim, they'd be going out of business. Their Instagram documents the contrary.

Jumping way back to the Minifooger sale, the Sweetwater liaison for the store I teach at says they were actually discontinued by Moog some time ago, but the stocks of the big stores are just now getting thin enough to warrant clearance prices. Right now they're only discounting the Delay, but should expect the rest soon enough. So, probably oughta grab 'em while you can.

That because all the Minifoogers sucked ass. I tried all of them and the only one that's remotely interesting is the flanger.

The probably stay in business because people are too lazy to do research. #capitalism

The Drive is pretty unusual, but I've found unique uses for it that aren't easily replicated with other stuff. I *really* like it stacked with other dirt, plus it's particularly great with synthier tones and you can do all kinds of fun stuff with the expression input for its filter. I've got the Delay inbound now, will probably snag the others through the store's hookup for the hell of it once they get discounted.

I had an MF Trem, really great trem pedal. Solid as duck.
