It got to where we were getting big enough crowds where I was spending hours the next day texting people to thank them for making it out.

d'awwwwww! thanks homie. that's totally what we're aiming for though. trying to get all the kinks out and get to where we can at least once a month do a 3 day thing to driveable places or if we can get guarantees to cover most of the travel where we can fly in and hit and run a place over a weekend.

i've talked to Sousie about this, and i might have to buy a decent guitar amp so we could not be douches on the reciprocal end, but i totes (fucking love that word. makes me feel like such a pretty little layday. with GLITTER.) want to get where we can be all networked up so we can go out some place with the bare minimum gear, borrow friend's amps and drum sets for a weekend, then trade shows out here back the same way. if you're just bringing like a bass, pedalboard, laptop, midi keyboard and a snare drum it seems way more feasible to fly somewhere for 3 day weekend show thingers.

but that's gonna be a hinute. i'm just fucking geeked about playing agian. lol. was S'POSED to be a place where no one would come so we could "rub one out and see if we like the lube" (my drummer's words) to kinda test our setup for live stuff.... and about 30 friends came out. and there was about 100 people in this small dive bar. FUN.

re: saying hi to people after playing. i'm such a social retard that it's kinda awkward and i feel hella fake talking to people, even when i genuinely like them and want to be all cuddle nice. but i actually dig talking to any friends that came out and chatting a little after playing. it's the people that come up that i don't know with the "awesome bass playing dooooooood" kind of stuff. i... i don't know how to handle that. a hand shake, a mumbled "oh thanks!" or some shit about "thank gawd i have THEM to cover all the slop". i'm not that good, i just end up being more the focus and cover up the lack of skeeeeelz with weird tones. so that's always kinda the hardest part of the night for me.

also, eek. i fucking HATE looking at myself in photos.

lol. i have another 2 single 12 cabinents i can stack on that for a full stack 4x12 thinger, but it's just so much overkill. last night i had that 2x12 thing turned up maybe halfway, and it was just LOUD. i'm fucking lazy. i want to bring as little gear as possible. i don't mind, i'm the nerd of the band, but i end up helping with the setup on the electro gear that Paul and Syren use. that's fine, but i want my shit as quick and easy as possible so i have the time if anybody needs help.

and FUCK going DI. she (made a I'm SORRRRRRY face and) offered me a vocal mic. said the Beta52 they had that doubled as a kick mic or bass mic got stolen, and usually a rig unmic'd was plenty loud. i didn't really need to be mic'd last night, but a Beta52 is something else i'm throwing in a Need Extra Loot bag to bring to shows.

I HATED talking to people after shows....not because I didn't want to, but I felt like I just had to smile and say "thanks a lot" over and over again. Could never be myself.

Interesting story about DI - We were playing a show at this place called Dingbatz in Jersey. I had just brought my Mesa head and plugged into some piece of shit cab that appeared to be held together with duct tape.

About 2 songs in, the cabinet was shaking so badly and SO fucking loud that the DI rattled off the top of the amp and fell - unplugging me in the process.
The sound guy runs up to the stage as I'm trying to plug it in and just yells to me "LEAVE IT OUT... YOU WERE TOO FUCKING LOUD SO I JUST TOOK YOU OUT OF THE PA"

Yeeaahhh.
