Corey Y wrote:There's also what I think is a French film from at least 10 years ago that's the same plot. It's not a horror movie at all though, it's more a straight interpersonal drama. A whole bunch of people from this seaside town who were dead just miraculously appear back alive (I think maybe they walk out of the ocean, I can't remember) and try to reintegrate with their old lives. It's all about how everyone has moved on and you really can't get back what you had, pretty much no supernatural or zombie themes at all.

There's also an episode of Supernatural where a bunch of people in Bobby Singer's town all come back to life and are seemingly normal, but don't sleep or eat and eventually (predictably) they turn into mindless raging zombies. That's the episode where they introduced the character of Jody Mills, as the town's sheriff that has to put down her resurrected child.

It's clearly an attempt to ride the wave of zombie popularity without making a straight zombie story, but too many people all had the same bright idea around the same time and instantly was overplayed.
I know all about supernatural :!!!: Hope they bring back a Loki episode or two.

I could fill an entire thread with all my opinions about Supernatural. Good and bad.

I have to take a few pauses and decide if I'm in a place in my life right now where I'm ok with being the person who starts a Supernatural discussion thread on ILF.

I have seen every episode that aired during the first 5 seasons, more than twice, and every season that's streamed on Hulu or Netflix since. I have a lot of opinions on Supernatural. I still don't know if I'm the right person to either defend or criticize it. I'm deeply conflicted on the subject.

I meant the Confession Thread brother. Regarding 'defend or criticize it' you can do both...I do that with a lot of my favorite albums.
SAMPLE REVIEW: "I love this album but I would never recommend it to anyone...ever. It's like a birth mark I've come to be proud of."

that's the beauty of it? it's a cool premise that went silly butts QUICKLY but had interesting over arching storylines but those also got silly. and predictable.

oh man. just pointing out that you're predictable does NOT excuse following the same formula season after season.

the weirdest part for me is they got more and more frivolous feeling when they abandoned the Otherworld/Self-Referential/Purposely Goofy episodes.

like, by taking themselves more seriously, they lost depth?

Monster Of The Week shows lose me pretty quickly, but i still have a soft spot for SN.

even. though. it needs. TO. END.

Supernatural introduces a lot of great characters, themes, concepts, scenes, props...and it never met a good idea it couldn't run into the ground. A lot of that is just the fact that CW won't let it end. The first five seasons aren't perfect, but there are some great things about it. There are some good things to be found since then, but they get fewer and far between and a lot of really good seeds of ideas have been wasted or burned out before anything really great came out of them.

I've seen up to Season 13, and then my DVR decided it wanted to only keep 5 recorded episodes at a time, so... Waiting for the first 5 or so episodes to come back on. Or for it to hit Netflix. Whichever comes first.

It has been run into the ground. And it is currently getting tri-beam attacked 50 feet under. But I can't not like it. The 4th wall/parallel universe episode where they are on the set for the show was just fun.

This is still my all time favorite scene of just about any show, ever.

jia. i own season 1-11 on bluray. that was before i realized streaming is near perfect for how i watch movies/shows since i've been married to someone i actually enjoy spending time with.

i'm with you though HalfCalfHalftManSkrilla. i'll still watch through a 52 episode season of 82% bullshit to get to those tiny kernels of awesomeness.

I've been watching The Path lately and it's an amazing show that showcases the realness of cults. I've experienced these people on a first hand level and this show has completely blown my mind with how accurate it is.

Finally watching Twin Peaks, nearly done with ep 2

Deadly Premonition actually kind of makes more sense now.

</Scorpion> should be renamed Deus Ex Machina. :whateva:
Considering the poor writing and questionable history of Walter O'Brien, I don't know this show has managed to last 4 seasons.
