dude, you really outdid yourself. either one of those pedals would have been baller on its own, and both at once is mind-boggling. my bulldog-loving gf thought the socks are the best thing ever, Otis is having fun with toys, and the little guitar doodads are handy. the slide is bigger than the one i've been hauling around since 1974 which makes it better for lap stuff. i couldn't plug boxes in and test them in the middle of the night (Becky's family does presents Christmas Eve) so i listened to demos and think i already figured out how to use the SMMH 100% wet to do live King Tubby breakdowns. i feel like i've been to Powell's now. this was really nice. thank you.

Merry merry! Hope everyone is opening awesome stuff the helps open vistas and makes them feel the love. Really sorry I had to take a pass on this year, but it’s not because I don’t love you folks!

Woo! Thank you Satan! (I haven't worked out who you are yet!)

Got me a blackout BitQuest sent direct from Dr. Scientist. (with the extra eproms!)

In a sign that my Satan understands something about me, the pedal was mildly customized — it came pre-loaded with the classic clean bitquest effects on one side and the weirder Atmosphere reverb algos on the other! Amazing! (and a hand-written seasonal greeting from Ryan inside the backplate to boot!)

And then at some point — probably when I go on a lap steel bender — I can put in the bitquest fuzz effects and have a whole other thing going on!

I've got a stack of keyboards set up in the living room, so I'll do some droning with this tonight!

it's particularly great that it came with the extra chips.

i'm thrilled with both boxes. the Memory Man w/Hazarai is of course legendary for the shit you can do with it and to my astonishment is the only delay i've ever seen other than the Danelectro Back Talk that has a reverse mode that's actually functional. there's all kinds of places i can go with it. the other pedal is a Stomping Stones Virus. coincidentally i was watching the Collector/Emitter demo video of this the other day and was really impressed by its broad range and particularly by the likeable way it breaks up. i've never been big on the starved/grainy kind of sound (with a couple of exceptions, particularly the Velcroar) preferring a more dense, compressed kind of dirt that sustains for weeks, but this guy does it musically. i don't know how to explain it, but it's a remarkable thing and a whole new kind of voice and texture for me. i'm curious to see what it makes me come up with. it reminds me vaguely of a Harmonic Percolator...it's much crazier, but the grainy texture of the sound is similar. between these and the stuff that's happening in January to finish off my setup i'm going to have a very busy few weeks of figuring stuff out. thank heaven for little girls online gear manuals.

I am slowly coming back to life after being slammed by flu with severe fever for three days straight.
Opened the gift this morning! It included a record from and unknown artist (to me) with new-electronic-psych-rock vibes that i'm spinning right now, a set of brick toys - always appreciated - and a bunch of different sweets&choco-candies that are super intriguing but i'm gonna taste when my stomach feels right again.
The Gear part Is a Teisco Fuzz! Didn't know anything about It, but looking at the controls i guess it's an old school fuzz with octave-up capabilities, i'm sure some acid doom jamz await me as soon as i fully recover!
Thanks Santa, your identity was not disclosed so i am not a hundred percent sure who you are, but ' twas a nice surprise!!
Nice to see what other people got too, ILFmas never cease to amaze me.

i almost bought the Teisco Fuzz when i was on my search for the nastiest squarewave i could find. it made it into the Final Four, so it's pretty damned good.

I have yet to try this awesome wah and chorus pedal but I will be getting my last gear purchase of 2023 and possibly go dry again until Christmas next year.

Dubs - it was a pleasure being your SS  - It was really difficult for me to stop because I went to so many stores ( lol)

The EHX MM w/ Hazari was my first analog pedal way back when I was a teenager just picking up bass - I thought it would work in your massive board and in your current looping board, super curious to hear what sounds you will make with it. The 30 second looper is very useful on its own, it was hard to not keep this for myself.

Jero makes one hell of a fuzz, I will be buying a virus to replace the one I gave you but that finish is hella cool. If you have access it sounds really nasty on bass - I feel bad because I have not given any of my pedals love this year and that box needs to scream.

i'm really trying to not buy more effects. barring some unforeseen circumstance or unit i'm not aware of i should be sorted for all the major categories of effects i use. i still have a shoebox mostly full of fuzz i'm not planning to sell as part of my Big Spring Sales Event so i have all the fuzz i need and then some in most popular flavors (though no Fuzz Face or Rat other than the Rat gain/filter stage in the Katzenkönig because those don't turn me on); enough reverbs, delays, and reverb/delays that i feel like i went to Radiohead's yard sale; and i have yet to succumb to the gently undulating siren song of 21st-century modulation modeling. nowadays i go to one of the big sales sites, look at the categories, and go "no, i really don't need any of that." i'm still having to spend on utility stuff, though. the 3-way looper fader box is going to be $369, and i can justify a new tuner because it'll be more accurate. but when i look at my continually-evolving Google Doc with equipment ideas excluding work on the guitars, the major things left are a bass rig and a pickup for the acoustic 12-string that will allow me some electric 12-string action without having to spend $500. once the bass rig is sorted i'm going to get a crossover so i can bi-amp the looping setup because i use a fair bit of low-register content. and i'm watching a pair of Telefunken 12AX7s for the Black Finger tube compressor. hey, if i don't keep the BF that's two Telefunken preamp tubes for the guitar amps. and that's pretty much it for acquisitions. i'd like a different guitar amp, but i can work with what i have for now and get the 3 amps that need work (Laney VC30, Kalamazoo Bass 30, Electar Tube 10) fixed instead. then if i'm still not satisfied i can have a little Marshall Origin. as a treat. i still don't have an EL34 amp. 6V6, EL84s up the kazoo, even 7591s in the Kalamazoo but nothing with EL84s. or maybe a Princeton Reverb. i love those little fuckers. it'll be strange not to have anything in the needs/wants list. ever since i became active again in July i've been on a constant quest to find the stuff i need to make the 3-looper thing a reality and fill out the rest of the setup, and i'm genuinely tired of shopping and gear demos. not to mention ordering patch cables in arcane lengths because they only stock a couple of lengths at the shops here (such as they are).

i may do a tiny auxiliary board with just the SMMH and Black Finger compressor that would live where the expression pedal for the Randy's Revenge lives now. i'm not overwhelmed by using it with an EP even though i did in the past and liked it. the mini board would plug into the patch points in the main board between the delays and the reverbs. i still have to test the Black Finger to see if it does what i remember it did.

I myself received a deluxe mind warp as well as some sweet loot and approx 2 kg of marzipan, pudding, bong vinyl and Conan t-shirt (thxxx Dos!):

Very astute!

Yo dubkitty, I recently bought myself a hazarai after longing for it back for 10 years - the reverse multitap mode is excellent!
