^Yeah, that's the reason to listen to Santana.

Otherwise you could just as well listen to Bola Sete, Gábor Szabó, Wes Montgomery and Peter Green. :snax:

Also, is this dude trollin' GY!BE?

Y’all want a “safe” way to get into Santana (ie not feeling like a sellout mainstream wad) check out Luis Gasca’s LP “For Those Who Chant” with Stanley Clarke, Joe Henderson, Lenny White, Carlos, etc. It’s a fuckin’ total banger. I found my copy for like $7 so it hasn’t really become one of those coveted obscurities but is well worth checking out. Really tight

Also the Santana and John McLaughlan LP “Live Devotion Surrender” is one of the tightest most legit fusion bangers out there. I’ve mentioned this before itt but it can’t get mentioned enough.

Also the Live in Japan 3LP is a hard one to track down but well worth it. Definitely the peak of 70’s excess packaging. Japanese versions are hard to spot anywhere but there’s a Dutch version that is out to lunch.

I fuckin’ know this but my wife, she don’t agree. I had to turn it off half way through side 2.

Not to derail the Santana talk, but thought of this thread when I saw Tonstartssbandht yesterday. Dude had taped over the headstock of his 6-string... but given that he also taped over the knobs, it's possibly more a Burroughsian "Rub Out The Word" than brand control.

That reminds me, I partially taped over my Memphis duosonic clone headstock to make it a phi-sonic/phicaster or something like that because I keep it tuned around A=432hz. It's my meme guitar and a guitar meme, good for noisy clangs and feedback and not much else [but just enough]

Could be a conceptually oxymoronic aesthetic.

Ugh. I just forced myself to read through 8 pages of virtually nothing solely out of curiosity about how a pedal-taping thread became a Santana thread.

And there was no causal link at all. Poor life decisions...

Oh, and more to the point, I can't imagine wanting to tape pedals and I can't imagine giving a fuck that somebody else did. I did once briefly decide to cut the logo off the back of my right Hunter rain boot and replace it with the word "killer" as a Terminator reference, but I immediately thought better of it.

Santana was brilliant. This is one of the ultimate albums of late night music.

I have nothing to say about the pedal taping escapades because they were pretty goofy, even by ILF standards.
