Yeah, Hommeboy swagger'd into someone's face (but the guilt-ridden cutter move afterward

) . Not cool at all as these are the people who gets your mug on every mag in thee werld. No matter, imo Era was his last 'kick' ass with no small contribution from Joey.

It would appear that Homme has his demons. I remember when Olivieri had his very public meltdown (domestic violence, hostage taking, [yet more] drug charges) JH came out as a voice of reason who couldn't tolerate such antics so NO had to go. Seemed like essentially a stand-up sort of chap even if he did come across as someone who's company I wouldn't enjoy. That was my take on him as I stopped listening to QOTSA's output after Songs For The Deaf (also known as their last good album) because it seemed that without that chemistry/tension the two of them had the band lost something very special.
So no real loss to find out some 15 years later that the guy is a dick that swapped riffs for shenanigans in an attempt to stay relevant and has the self same impulse-control/substance problems that he sacked the co-leader of the band for having.

Well if those things hadn't happened years apart you might be on to something, but the swat team stuff happened in 2011.

I think he's still onto something. It's the human condition. We all are fuck ups, Josh Holmes just turned out to be a bit of one than some.

You folks don't kick people in the face at work? Earlier today I was on a platform and punted Lisa from shipping right in the teeth. You guys can thank me later for saving rock and roll.

C'mon, you didn't kick her in the teeth, you kicked her in that silly surgical mask she was wearing.

You're quite right D.o.S, that did come after. As I recall he was fired over drugs / spousal issues? Or at any rate Homme said something along the lines of "guy's a fuckup so I kicked him out" in an interview I read around that time. And after that every album sounded like the same track over and over but not in a good way like the debut album.
As for the human condition, we are indeed all fuck ups to varying extents. Some of us simply feel rudderless in the world because our lives have no clear narrative arc like in all the media we have consumed from birth, others kick camera's into peoples faces and have quiffs in 2017 like they're still trying to be more rock and roll than Little Richard.
Which is pointless because you will never beat Little Richard.
Safest bet these days is to entirely seperate the art from the artist and maybe even avoid seeing acts you like live just in case they can't conduct themselves civilly in public for 45 fucking minutes.
Thinking about it, isn't this the same guy who sat by whilst his pal from Eagles of Death Metal said some hateful shit about the Bataclan attack? So in my book he's aleady got dick underlined next to his name.

I was just waiting for someone to compare domestic violence to on-stage drunken stupidity.
Add to that, I'm really fucking sick of people going on about what Jesse Hughes said post-Bataclan.
If you had some conservative leanings (as Jesse, apparently, did) and barely survived a terrorist attack that resulted in 100 of your fans dying, do you think you would've just been "well, we really need to understand where they're coming from"?
On top of that, we're talking about Josh's best friend. It's not like he's hanging around saying that Donald Trump is an okay guy, he was supporting his best friend who said some dumb shit, possibly because he's suffering from PTSD.
If supporting your best friend makes someone a dick in your book, I'm curious how your friendships are going.

It's good to have a hobby. What if no one had, you would have been watching this thread for weeks...Now let's hear a actually compelling argument...

Compelling argument of what?

Could have phrased it better, you're right. How about they have both shown poor judgement in regards to physical aggression? The domestic violence/female photographer angle is somewhat apples to oranges, I'm going to give JH the benefit of the doubt that he couldn't identify the gender of the photographer in that situation. That said, guy is 6 foot 4, he's big enough and old enough to know that you can't just kick a camera out of someone's hands without seriously risking hitting the person so it is not a good choice to make whichever way you cut it.
As for Jesse Hughes, it would one thing to say Trump is an OK guy because everyone has their political leanings and they are entitled to them. It's quite another to say that there were Muslims dancing in the streets when the Paris attacks happened. It is another thing entirely to say that the security staff (some of whom died protecting
him) were involved in the attacks. And then to apologise to the press for saying these things, only to repeat them months later? That's a couple of steps beyond dumb shit, for me.
Calling your friends out on nonsense when and if it occurs is what friends do. I would expect (and have had) my friends point out stuff to me if I was acting the goat.
Don't worry about my friends, we all get on fine!

Are we actually shocked that the singer from eOdM is not the most thoughtful dude on earth?

Sorry, you misread me, which is my fault:

I'm not trying to apologize for Hughes, I'm trying to say that what Hughes said is irrelevant to this discussion and that your particular example was, rather than an example of "Josh Homme is a dick", an example of "Josh Homme stands by his friends in difficult situations".

See, the problem is, maybe after the interview or whatever Josh said to Jesse, "dude, what the fuck are you talking about, you can't say shit like that, you need to get that straightened out". But we'll never know because Josh isn't going to go to the press to shit-talk his best friend.

"Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age sent two people in the photo pit to the medic last nite. One was photographer Chelsea Lauren who posted a video of getting kicked in the head that is just shocking in it’s casual approach to violence. The other victim was a security guard who got a light kicked into the back of his head. Never in all my years have I seen such a bully on stage. He also insulted Muse and sliced his own face open with a knife. When you have no talent you have to get attention by being a moron. He’s banned and this is the last time I will shoot him."
FWIW - the lights are actually designed to be kicked/shoved as part of the show (like Weeble Wobbles). It's part of their "you think we're commercial rock but we're really punk as fuck" schtick they've adopted with Villains (get wasted and break stuff). This schtick (rebelling against the mainstream he's intentionally put them in) combined with his inflated ego are not serving him well. He really has become a caricature of himself.
Over analyzing rock stars is fun. Fuck it, get wasted and break stuff.

Honestly this stuff seems like an accepted risk that a camera person or reporter knows full well may happen when they take an assignment. Want to film a drunken douchebag in a sea of several thousand other drunken douchebags? Well then expect to get a bit roughed up. Want to film the war in Syria? Expect to get blown up by an IED. Want to film those dudes on Deadliest Catch? Expect to get crabs. Etc and so on and so forth. These folks should know the risks of the assignments they are taking.
