Still having a bit of an alignment issue here. Sigh. I'm testing inverted and regular. I may have to have a tech come over or talk on the phone with me. I'm just super confused here. As you can see, it's pretty fucking close, but it ought to be perfect. FML

Is the issue just homing/zeroing out the machine in relation to the work/mounting point, or is there a 3D aspect I don't get?

Can you get it centered using paper?

Actually yes I believe it would. If I eliminated the circle part and just left the numbers it'd be easy. Even if it was slightly off, you wouldn't be able to tell like you can now.

I was talking with others about this that own lasers and apparently a lot of people have this same fucking issue. I'm going to see about creating a jig for it and trying that.

If that doesn't work, I may have to do what you're suggesting. I hope that's cool with everyone.

Definitely cool with me. I haven't looked extremely close, just enough to say "damn these look so awesome."

I'm going to attempt to fix it. I don't like it when shit like this happens. It happened on my last laser etches for Drolo too, and I think now that it could be a fucking alignment issues even though I literally just re-aligned the goddamn thing a few months ago.

A few months? I don't know what you have, but does the processor side of things let you user define a zero point? Then I feel it would just be a matter of having a fixed jig and a fixed reference point (like a plate glass base with an etched crosshair) that you can manually place the laser at (at a low beam pointer type power) then punch the zero set and away you go?

Forgive me if watching big mills operate has skewed my sense of things, but defining the point of work (piece to be milled/whatever) was always the first step in any run.

These all look great (in every iteration I've seen) so whatever work around you go with, it's cool by me.
