the more I think and read about the 09/03 the more I can certainly see their merrit. That said, I'm far more interested in getting a Volca FM and Kick to run with my Beats.

Those three sound like a sick combo, and honestly i feel like one could just run a beats/bass/fm and do some really fun music. I only wish the sequencers were more than 16 steps on the old ones, but i get it, and you can still work around that.

The tr-09 looks really cool. Maybe a tad too expensive, but if I found used at the right time I'd probably get it. I like the PO-12 I'm using now, but I think it might feel a bit limited in a while. As for the 303-clone I'm unsure if I even could use the sounds a 303 does. If I found out I want a 303 I think I'd pounce on this one: https://www.thomann.de/mam_mb33_retro.htm

Also excited about the volca kick actually. Didn't 100% dig the beats but I don't know if I gave it a fair shot either

I like the sound of the TR-09, it sounds more like a cheesy 80s drum machine than a 909 but it still sounds kinda cool. The TR-03 sounds bad.

I'm impressed more and more with the volca beats, I put it away for about 5 months and recently broke it back out as my main machine. Where it really shines IMO is with recording motion/stutter which just fattens anything up in so many different ways and with shortening the sequence step length and expanding it back it. Sure the snare sort of sucks, but when you start recording in rolls/swings and fast PCM speed changes things get very...uhhhh... simplistically complex??

I like the size of the TR-09, and it's getting ever more appealing, just not at that price. I'm also not ready for the endless tweaking I'd be getting into with one, I don't think I'd find perfection out of it, but with all the knobs I sure would search.

I mean the TB03
It doesn't sound like a good 303 substitute, sounds dead

Manuals are out.

I looked at the GT-1's.

Minor improvement in how the Tera Echo is handled (it's now part of the delay block), no guitar-to-MIDI (which wasn't honestly a huge selling point for these, if you want that get a GT-001/100!), only one amp chain per patch (no blend/mangle two). Past that, not much significant is missing or changed and looks to be a relatively uncrippled version of the 001.

I'm more and more leaning towards giving it another shot. At the time I owned it I didn't have the opportunity to use it with other instruments, and I traded it for a practice amp I really needed at the time. It's between that and a volca sample...

I just found out about the TR-09 and I'm kinda excited about it. :duck:
Even though it's digital, I still want one.
I'll wait until it's under $300, though.
