Also Boondocks Saints was fucking rad, but I'd look like a Nazi if I still rocked that look.

You'd be shocked how often looking like a nazi gets you laid.

Can't say I've ever used it to my advantage.
Sadly, I'd believe it.

I'd go for an Aubrey Plaza or Kristen Ritter as Jessica Jones more than Zooey any day. Slightly gothy/moody is my kryptonite.

All of those girls are bae.
Woolworm is bae.
I feel like... like... a new soldier just stumbled into my camp, minutes before I was about to face the enemy. Like, I'm smoking my last cigarette, pouring over maps, bombs going off in the background. Prognosis is bleak. The in comes this wiry kid in a too-big helmet and slaps a slaute up against his head.
"Reporting for duty, sir!"
"You want to fight this war? Are you prepared to pull hundreds of random-ass, gushy, bullshit arguments out of your ass at a moment's notice, all in a vain attempt to aggravate two or three overly sensitive noncomformists on an outdated alternative music forum?"
"I was born for it, sir. I've already written twenty paragraphs defending the artistic integrity of Deafheaven."
I look him up and down, and give him
the Joey Tribbiani smile-frown of approval.
"Fuck it, you got heart kid. Grab a rifle." Flicks ashes. "We march at dawn."

Dude, it's a thread about Deafhaven.
You're hardly playing for sheep stations.

And I love Spacemen 3 but I would send them straight into the sun if it meant I didn't have to listen to a casecandy alt tell me about Tame Impala or Animal Collective.
I have literally never heard a Tame Impala song; there is no way that band can live up to their hype. Impossible. I did, however, once sell a copy of Animal Collective's
Feels 2xLP for over $55 USD on eBay. So AC's been good to me. Now... Spacemen 3 I can get behind. Their album in the Tzaddik Book of Angels series (like all said albums, like all Tzaddik albums) is fantastic.
Do you have any idea what its like to listen to case talk about "WHAT HAIM MEANS TO ME: A STORY ABOUT BACKPACKING THROUGH RURAL SASKATCHEWAN AND MY NEW AGE NORDIC ZIONIST AWAKENING" ?
Fucking Christ, I laughed hard at this one. You know me well. But, to nitpick, for one, change the band. I saw Haim live once and I gotta say, they're like a second-rate Fleetwood Mac filtered through Jenny Lewis. Wasn't compelled to seek out the record. (This is funny because Tigers Jaw are a second-rate Fleetwood Mac filtered through Brand New, and I go to bat for everything they do.) And I've never been to Western Canada and honestly, I'm an Eastern Canadian at heart. I view the East Coast the way the Wabanaki did: all of New England from above New York state up, and the Maritimes, it was all the Wabanaki confederacy, the Dawnland. That's gorgeous. But anyway. I live in Québec. So.
If this said "WHAT BELL WITCH MEANS TO ME: A STORY ABOUT KAYAKING AROUND REMOTE ISLANDS IN THE JAMES BAY AND MY NEOPAGAN NORDIC ZIONIST AWAKENING," it'd be, like,
right on the money.

Im willing to bet money that if that flowery douche started rapping on their next album, pitchfork would explode with praises even though garm did that almost 20 years ago.
I both agree with this, and don't.
I agree with it generally in that, that's totally something P4K would do, isn't it? They pick favourites. Circa 2009, "Okay, boys, we like Fleet Foxes, we like Bon Iver, we like Laura Marling, but we don't like Mumford & Sons. Got it?" Even though, love or hate 'em, at that point in their careers, those bands all sounded exactly the same. Folk revival. I felt so bad for Sigh No More getting a 2.0 rating. It was a good album.
On the other hand, P4K likes black metal. Brandon Stosuy, who used to be the editor for P4K, full stop, is obsessed with black metal, and is a pretty competent chronicler of third, American wave (WitTT, Leviathan, etc.), who wrote
this,
this, for
this, and so on. P4K's annual Best Metal Albums of the Year list is always way better than the lists from most mainstream metal outlets, even if they do favour certain bands.
So I feel like this is sort of on-point and off-base at the same time.

Fuck, Snatch is one of my favourite movies. Lock, Stock too.
Some of the best writing there is... hard to imagine coming up with all those twists and turns. Ingenious.
