This thread not only provided me with new music (fuck, how'd I sleep on Sun Ra/Merzbow) but made me laugh like a dozen times.

New Bon Iver is gold. Fuckin autotuned tenor saxophones lol
Seriously right now it's my favourite record of 2016

First listenthrough of new Bon Iver: Fuck, yes, this is perfect
Second listenthrough: Maybe "perfect" was strong, I mean, it's kinda the same thing he always does, and super short
Third listenthrough: Nah, it really is perfect. It's not so much clichéd in its use of autotune as it is a love letter to autotune. The final chapter in the book. I mean, he literally wrote new vocal processing software for this. The attention to detail is great. It's like... the platonic ideal of Bon Iver.
Fourth: You know this is actually really similar to last year's Earl Sweatshirt record. Good, lean version of his sound, extremely short, maybe deceptively short.
Fifth: Fuck, those saxophones are perfect. Literally perfect. I feel this right in my chest. It's good.

At that point, I went into work this morning and the secretary was like, "All the teachers are having a meeting." I assumed that a student had committed suicide but I was hopeful that maybe it was a just a procedural thing? Like our principal is in Edmonton for the week, here's how we're going to proceed. But no, I was right. And all day the school is just like... an orgy of PTSD symptoms, this just happened, and now it's happening again, punching walls, weeping, hyperventilation. In class after the students heard the news, it was oppressively awkward. Physically painful. One of the kids, trying to break the tension, said, "What's that song in your iTunes sound like? The one with the weird name? '715 - CR∑∑KS'?" I said, "Oh, it's vocoder music, basically, like, mmmmmmmwhatcha say, kindof." He said, "Play it." And I played this mournful song in the class and me and every kid hung their head and thoughtfully listened for the duration.
Oh, then how we gonna cry
Cos it once might not mean something
Love, a second glance it is not something that we'll need
Honey, understand that I have been left here in the reeds
But all I'm trying to do is get my feet out from the crease
It's been, uh, it's been a day. I got a hell of a headache.

I've listened a few times and don't know what to think of it. At first I liked it, and after a couple times I started to wonder if it's maybe a bit half-ass.
I don't know. He seems awesome, I like that he's experimenting, and I find listening to it to be an intriguing experience. But I'm not sure I like it.

Keeping in mind that I like the album... IS it really experimenting for him? When you consider his collaborations with Kanye, it's kindof safe territory.
I dunno, I've settled on "It's really good." I don't know about perfect or classic but I like it, it's hitting the spot

Damn, I haven't listened to this band in like 7 years and I check on them randomly to find they've reformed and released a new album. Pretty awesome noise rock:

Personal standing on Bon Iver has always been that he annoys me and is pretentious beyond the scope of reason. Like the names on the new album just rub me the wrong way. He has always been some dude with a guitar for me who sings harmonies (wow), uses reverb and also doesn't really write lyrics but just kind of says stuff and it turns out that when random words and incomprehensibly scrambled together it's mistaken for poetry.
But I guess I'll give the latest record a shot
