Well shit. That's fantastic. Now if only the Canadian dollar would rebound so the DD-500 falls a bit closer to the outside edge of my budget.

so this thing is the shit. first thing's first tho, lack of mix knob is fucking stupid. I love how you can set the dry and effect level to compensate for volume loss and stuff like that, but it gets a bit tedious having to menu dive to set the dry signal.. basically my only gripe with it

it sounds great and is loaded with parameters, so you can basically customize any delay you can imagine. the envelope feature is fuckin gnarly, as well as the hold/warp/etc..and the EQ is DEEP. I get lost in it it for hours at a time. still have loads to explore
I need to figure out how to use 2 patches at the same time. I'm also wondering if they'll release new algos/patches for it? seems like they could just stuff them the 'pattern' mode. here's to hoping! I'd love some granular thrown in there

Can you apply envelope modulation to any of the parameters?

Yup! As many as 12 at once. (!!!)

so wild!
I was able to figure out something similar to a raptio/freeze thanks to the assign function

of course..while being hella customizable!! use tera echo mode, set the direct level 100, effect level to 0, but assign effect level to the tap switch with min 0/max 100 and go wild from there..you can enable/disable carryover so it holds the first note or effects everything you play. SO, RAD!!! apparently you can only do it momentarily with the ctl switch but if you have an external one you can do it indefinitely similar to the freeze. epic shit!
this thread over yonder has loads of info. knowledge starts being dropped on page 9 or so:

The assigns on the modern Boss/Roland stuff are insane.
I can do things that I never thought possible with the GT-001's, and the same stuff on the GR-55 make me forget any desire for CV.

I sold mine because of parameter overload though.

But if you like planning out your sets and sounds beforehand (not while jamming like I do) then it's fantastic.

check it out, this is with heavy loading on the assign. using like 6. also I'm re triggering each time I play a new note/chord. I'll get a clip later where it contrasts vs the dry signal
https://www.instagram.com/p/BDE2IYXI1vT/and word up if you're not into menu diving you'll hate this pedal. but if you have the patience, it is so rewarding.

Clearly you're smarter than me Resin. I'll make you a deal. I'll re-buy a new DD 500 and you set it all up cool as shit for me and send it back? Deal???? Deal???? I mean, you'd get nothing really out of this deal, but deal???????????????????

we could do that, or I could just share some settings with you

I have like 4 momentary/raptio like patches now xD I also figured out If you assign a different delay time or tape head to the ctrl switch, you can get it to pitch/glitch out

The key to these types of units is make a dozen presets that do cool things. Learn roughly what those things do, and then know when to switch them on.
It's not about real-time editing, it's about real-time mastery of the tools you've laid out in front of you.

going to start dumping some clips in here to show off the weirder capabilities of this thing.
vmjm w/ blk tri lits -> holy mountain -> mini -> dd-500 -> bitquest reverb (on some clips) -> carvin x100b
this one is 7 patches:
https://soundcloud.com/gaynoise/boss-dd ... ird-shit-1
0:00 - 1:59; #1
input is set to trigger between vintage digital and analog modes, causing it to stutter and glitch out as it decays. longer feedback while strumming, so you can build massive walls of sound and break them as soon as you mute your playing. I'm raging about the dr. sci heisenberg at the end xd
0:59 - 2:55; #2
effect level, time and feedback are tied to tap/ctl switch. so, it's momentary and resets the time whenever you engage.
2:55 - 3:30; #3
another momentary effect with like 7 assign functions.. toggles between delay, delay phase, 2 types of delays, envelope sensitivity and some other stuff that I'm not too sure affects the whole sound so much.. I re-engage every time I hit a new chord so it doesn't oscillate like fuck
3:30 - 4:15; #4
another input triggered delay similar to the first. shimmer mode with a high pass filter and reverse delay tied to input. it creates a trem type of effect that decays into shimmer as the computer tries to figure out what to play
4:15 - 5:33; #5, more of #3 I think
5:33 - 6:01; #6
shimmer delay with hpf tied to input
6:01 - 8:04; #7
ok this one consists of 2 patches. A is echoplex mode with an assign function set to wave pedal (lfo..) triggering low mid sweep and another lfo controlling tera echo resonance. B is a full wet reverse delay pretty much.. I start off with A, mix B in, turn off A for a bit and go back.. probably my favorite sounding modes so far, as simple as they are xD
