Not officially, anyway.

I'd sub out Pink for Dronevil tho.
Wat, I thought it had been released, but apparently not.
I did really like Praparat, too. And Wata's song on that Ai Aso split.
And Rainbow...
Still need to listen to Praparat.

I remember about flood 'cause Aen told me/us about it a while back:

YAR. I have a digital copy. Nothing special, just the songs from the albums, but with shittier sound and excessive arena reverb.

On the subject of Flood: I asked Boris a while back if I could release Flood on a double vinyl, because I thought that would be a pretty good way to get the label going. Anyway, I think it was their manager who said that the original recording of flood will probably never come out on ANY other physical media, because of the iron clad contract with the CD company in Japan. I've also heard from a few sources that Japanese record industry is even more monopolized than the states. It boils down to like 2 companies, and then a few actual indies.

HOwever, you might have better luck with "Boris Plays Flood" a half hour-ish live performance from last year in Tokyo. They were selling the CD on tour this year. Not sure if it's getting distribution or what...
*edit* just checked itunes. Not on there, but that means almost nothing with Boris.

But it's probably better to see them. So you can see them turn on their Shiva, Eau Claire Thunder, and Pitch Grinder. :excellent:

I am so glad that I got to see them play it, definitely one of my all-time favorites. I heard about that live CD, but there was no merch table at the show I went to...

I bought the CD back when it came out. It cost me $35 then and going for about the same now. Still a killer record. Feedbacker is my favorite overall.

I can do Heavy Rocks or Akuma No Uta once in a while but I'm pretty much fixated on Dronevil, Feedbacker, Flood and the Thing That Solomon Overlooked (that I donwloaded). I hate that dudes singing voice on Pink, etc but their tone/drone is so fucking tight.....

Don't even get me started on the jpop stuff or Smile.... what the fuck ever.....
 I like all their stuff really but new album… it just felt contrived… but then I like Jpop so  also guys… Klatter! [With Merzbow] that's the one for the "new" stuff :thumb: All time fave is Amplifier Worship though.

And there is that whole thing about it being recorded in some hi-fi digital way or something in the liner notes… kind'a makes a analog version a bit silly… which means they should totally do it

CLOUD. CHAMBER.

One of my favorite drone-noise records. The other two being Copper and Silver by The Grey Daturas and Yellow Swans (it's hard to find, but it's reeeeeeeeal good if you're into that stuff) and Cusp by Everlovely Lightningheart. Copper and Silver is more of a noise record, and Cusp is noises (as in, recorded and manipulated noises, samples, and found objects) interspersed with melodic piano and stuff.
http://hydrahead.bandcamp.com/album/cusp

Stephen O'Malley nailed it when he said in an interview that his music is about meditation, not entertainment. It's not an art form that does the work for you. You have to really sit and listen hard to it. Loud. Or with headphones. I never used to understand drone and doom until I figured out that I was liking the sounds themselves, and....well.....getting really zoned-out in a nice kind of way. I've played noise-drone shows where I played for an hour and a half and had no clue it lasted that long. I thought I played for like 40 minutes or something.

Anyway. Tangent. Carry on.

Oh I totally understand that which why I understand why people enjoy it and enjoy drone in general. I'm just saying personally I don't care for it, like I said I like something more immediate. I like hearing someone hammer on an amp but in context of a song. Even if the song is 30 mins long and only one riff. As long as that riff is massive and the tone is godly.

I guess I can say I don't like meditation.

Yeah, it's cool man. To each their own. I think I mostly listen to whole albums because if an artist puts out an album that only has one or two songs I like, then I just tend to not go back to it. It's like something inside of me is saying, "well if they can't write 10 songs that are worth a shit. . ." But there are a couple songs here and there by random artists that I'll put on sometimes.

I suppose but I guess since I'm not actively zoning out to it I don't consider it meditation or a release of any inner stress or anything. I just take it as something I actively enjoy hearing, now I do want to hear vocals while that is going as well. I only like instrumental stuff if it's extremely complex.

gunslinger_burrito, same way whenever I have an album were only one or two songs are good. Like i can think of Maximilion or something spelled close to that.. I only barely remember them cause I bought their album based on one great hook riff in a song that's so massive and awesome... the rest of the album doesn't live up to it. Like literally only the one song... so by the off chance I think of them and that riff I'll pull it up on youtube listen and not bother and then every so often I might pull out the album and see if I'm just missing something. Only once in my life have I gone back to an album have my perception changed to where I now enjoy said album so much more. But I try and it's still a disappointment.

I only listen to an LP if I can listen to the whole record uninterrupted, unless it's a compilation. I'll listen to digital media in my car and while I work casually though.
