I had a TimeLine, and I hated it for looping. I got around using the DL4 with it, I just spent A LOT of time trying use it it, but the audio quailty of laying 10-15 loops over each other just got everything sounding like mud, and eventually the loops would start to crackle and fizzle like the audio signal I was sending through was too hot.

I prefer the action of holding down a footswitch for the duration of the loop recording to that of one-click rec, one-click stop rec. I Find it easier to time the release of the pedal than to make a second stomp for the end. Dunno if that explanation makes sense but there it is.

I don't like the press to record because I want to use a volume pedal at the same time and am not a ballerina. How's that make like the queen of England?

I think it was useable for making 1 loop to play over, but it had serious issues managing volume to play over the loops and to layer loops. I looked into it, and it seems it was inherrent to the way they programmed the loop feature.
I have a volume pedal after my gain-y pedals and before my modulation, so the trick was to record the first loop / subsequent overdubs at a lower level (vol pedal down) and then adjust the layer volume on the Flashback (I usually have this set beforehand, but it's annoying to go between this and the delays because I want the level on the delay much quieter.)
Then, playing over the top of the loops, I just rock the vol pedal forward and I'm louder than the loop. Easy peasy.
Yeah, I did something similar, but I don't have a volume pedal. I had to make sure to start looping with my pedals set to a quiet volume, then increase the volume. It was functional for a built in looper on a delay pedal, but still effectively useless to me, as I would never be able to use it practically in any setting other than playing around at home. If I were to want to loop something on the fly, I would not want to always think of this volume issue, just stomp when I want to record, and adjust after if needed. I would hope that buying a specific looper pedal would have some better functionality. I see the 1 knob on the pedal says "loop volume" so perhaps it will only control the loop with your signal set at unity. But one would also think that's how it would have functioned on the flashback, and one would have thought wrong.
bottom line, I sold the Flashback, not cause the looper was no good, but because the delay tones were a huge pile of average.
Anyway, seems the consensus around here is "I
might buy that for $100"

I AM A PRETTY PRETTY LADY. hee. wootenesque. i WISH i had them skeelz.
yah. my needs for a looper are super minimal. but i suck at staying on time with them and i have a tendency to play too much. so simple things or drones ist GUT.

idk, its maybe weird for like the first 3 times, but afterwards the DL8 is super easy to use
