I've never had this difficulty with my other pedals that I've built.

Ok, I just tried another wiring layout. Same exact thing. Working bypass, and a gates, fuzzy, quiet sound when engaged. So, it must be the circuit. I checked it all out and seems fine.

Here are some photos with my crappy camera....anyone see what the problem could be? Sorry for all of the posts, I'm just getting pissed that I can't get this thing running.

maybe double check youve got enough juice going to it and that polarities are right

And do you have your clipping LED in right? I can't tell which leg is in which hole...
Fun fact that I almost messed up: square is positive, circle is negative, longer leg of leds, caps are the positive leg, on normal diodes the side with the black band on it is positive.

Man, okay. I finally figured it out. I mixed up the 47k and 1.5M resistor. I had them in unmarked bags and read them wrong build populating the board. Hot damn, that was a pain...Great sounding pedal, although, not as much gain as I thought there would be. Thanks ya'll.

Okay, So this pedal has been working very well. Love it. Except I have yet to get the LED to work Very strange. I wired it just like in the layout. I've managed to get the LED to light up, but then it wont turn off. Its on all the time. How did you guys wire the LED?

Okay, could not get the LED for some strange reason. However, I did something I like better. I mounted the clipping LED that is part of the circuit, externally, as the Indicator LED as well. So now, the indicator LED flashes and dims and I play. Quite nice.

Quick question...Is there a way to bypass the texture pot, instead of the gain. I find that my two favorite settings are:

1. Gain, all the way up, and Texture all the way down.
2. Gain, all the way up, and Texture all the way up.

So, it would be nice to have the Texture pot on a switch, instead of the gain pot. Even cooler, would be to have a mini-toggle switch that would set the 2nd footswitch to bypass either the Gain or the Texture pot. Anyone know how to do any of this?

A quick question, and probably a dumb one too, but would it be ok to use the 2 spare 'power' holes to run power to the leds?

only if you want them on all the time.

i thought thats what they were there for.
i cut the trace between the two holes on mine and put in a starve pot.
"pow" does read "mod" upside down..

How does the starve pot sound??

I did the starve thing but took it out since it did not do much for this circuit in my experience. Easy enough to wire up to see if you like it though.

not too crazy but i think it can clean up some higher gain settings.
worth at least trying out (maybe directly at the power source so you dont have to cut the trace)

Anyone try throwing one of these in a feedback loop?
