I've been agonizing over my gear since Friday, when I played the worst set in fifteen years of performing in one form or another and it made me focus on wanting to just play guitar better and stop fucking around. So I am nailing down gear, getting rid of everything unused and seeing what happens. Trying to get away from flipping and back into writing. Not to echo something I see written on here sometimes. But I think a purge is good now and then.

Yup but differing circumstances a little I guess (as well be the case with anyone really) still definitely not fun

SPOILER : show
If by flipping you mean flipping between stuff in the middle of a project then I totally get what you mean. If you mean flipping stuff as in selling stuff then I get that too. It's all procrastination in one form or another and we all need to find our own ways to stop it. Mine is currently freshen up all my gear, no more relying on "wattage switching" amps because IT NEVER FREAKIN' WORKS (sorry fan boys reading this  but just my opinion) and worse yet low-wattage heads! A decent 1x12 cabinet is like $1,000 down here which has put me off. It's stupid. And lets not leave out having a low-watt head, mega-loud head and a pretty darn loud combo with no extra cabinets and no spare cash. So yeah. Borrowing shit is annoying and balancing heads on my Mesa is equally annoying. Gonna use the Swart for main usage at home/jamming/writing/whatever and the 1224MKII at rehearsal space and be DONE with it that way I can also have enough money for a nice 4x12 cabinet too without worrying about one for a smaller head!
[/csb]

I couldn't sleep all night so I got bored and wrote up a list. It's definitely going to be an interesting two months either way... :yay:

Out: vintage Memory Man

In: Maxon AD9 Pro

I'm kinda addicted to delay and I needed something more practical than the Memory Man. I think the Maxon should be cool. Nice and small and hopefully no noise or volume drop. It seems to sound really nice in demos so I'm hoping it's a keeper

So, uh, I just did the most stupid thing ever. No doubt I will either regret it or live forever with a boner and even after dying I'll still have a boner from what epicness I'm about to endure. More to come soon... but lets just say a NGD might be needed next week  :thumb:

Nice choice mate! You'll really dig it if you want something other than the Memory Man. I did a similar move like that 6-7 years ago (sold a vintage DMM and got a Maxon ad900) and if you're gonna use it for straight up delay then there is no equal IMO although I cannot comment on the Ad9 Pro directly. FYI do try the Malekko 600 dark. It's also a KILLER pedal if you can find one *hint hint* !! :p ;)

How the Maxon AD900 compare to the new Moog (regular setting)?

I came here expecting to see a post about "clean octave down with waveforms". :D

They still sound different but it's a lot closer comparison than say the 104-z, IMO, etc. but each has it's own perks IMO which doesn't really help much  but the Moog is a little darker, the repeats are a lot less predictable but it's a hassle getting it to sit right in a mix for some sounds whereas the Maxon is basically set and forget. Moog again was a lot quieter both in general operation and clock-noise.The Maxon however just feels like it's got infinite headroom (again, IMO). I don't know what it was about the AD900 but there just wasn't a single bad sound out of it which is why I sold it after a while  the 104-m just blew everything else out of the water. I really like the DMMTT for it's divisions, I really like the "organic" (familiar) sound from the AD900 and the 104-m sits between all that.

It was too "John Mayer" and not enough "Tim Kasher".... yes I went there

Disclaimer: I'm definitely no delay aficionado.

Cool! Yeah I don't need any modulation or crazy oscillation out of it, just a solid analog delay I can use for gigs. I've already got an El Cap that I'm not getting rid of too so that combo will probably sound pretty coo

Never tried the E600D but I've had a 616. Is the E600D worth the blown up price?
