R6:Siege devs unveiled a bunch of new content and fixes for this year, which is nice. The Division 2 is only $3 on Uplay, so I bought it even though I probably won't play it any time soon.
Weirdly, I'm most excited about this game:

I just picked up a PS4 and I'll admit that I haven't really played video games much in the last 10 or so years. What are some fun 2 player games where we can both play in the same room? I like the online play but I get starched at pretty much everything I play. It came with call of duty which is fun but its not 2 players unless yr online and yeah. I'm basically looking for something my girlfriend and I can play together.

It is truly excellent. Perfect Zelda vibes for you.
It really was!
My brother got me the new Fire Emblem for christmas, so I guess I know what I'm doing for the next 200 hours or so.

Borderlands would be my suggestion (except that weird prequel sequel in space...). You can change the difficulty and the enemies scale with your level and you can do split-screen and yeah... I like it. Mostly mindless fun with a lot of replayability if you like that style of game.
You could also check to see if Diablo 3 is multiplayer on the same box? It might be.
Absolute best bet might be 3rd party games on the playstation store. Those are usually multiplayer on the console, fairly cheap, and fun party games (castle crashers and torchlight are what I remember best).

unfortunately, most modern racers have gone for online-only multiplayer, which is a fucking crime. Wipeout Omega has splitscreen, though.
nidhogg, is good for some 1v1 head-to-head. overcooked is co-op.
puyopuyo tetris
fighting games like street fighter, FighterZ, tekken
and then there's stuff that's good for a room full of people like the Jackbox games or VIDEOBALL.

Hmm my friend recommended this recently. Is good? It kind of looked maybe too focused on difficulty? I'm a very casual gamer these days. But it's very pretty so I remain interested

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I'm gonna look into borderlands for sure. We got the UFC game when we bought it because it was cheap and available at the time. I think street fighter, mortal combat type games might be a lot more fun than that one for sure. I just got a playstation + account so i'll be looking into all these tonight.

HLD? Hm, I've never considered myself a hardcore gamer, so I was a bit surprised when I saw people describing it as super hard. I'd say it's on the same level as the first Zelda or some SNES action platformer. It challenges you at some points, but it's never punishing or unfair or asks you to do anything beyond the basic mechanics. And you respawn about right where you ducked up.
I say definitely get it if you're in the mood for a good action rpg with amazing aesthetics and fun gameplay.

I am in the mood for all of those things. maybe the difficulty has just been oversold a bit then!

My first boss encounter was brutal. Eventually I slowed down and learned patterns, timed my attacks, etc... It was punishing in the way that I haven't felt in a long time. I didn't hate it either because it was fair, almost like I knew it was my fault for each of those hundred deaths. Later on I beat another boss in like 3 tries (they aren't exactly chronological, it is more open). There is a challenge but it is all achievable while learning how to play. There is a strategy to most of the game, and I was expecting like more of a hack-n-slash adventure. Great animation, sound design, music. I would love to find the time to play it again.

That all sounds good, I'm all for challenge as long as it's fair and possible without going into a blind rage at the computer
Bought it for when I finish the Witcher DLC (probably quite soon)

Which DLC? Or was it a DLC bundle with blood and wine and hearts of stone?

Blood and Wine currently, though when I got both DLCs I went back and played through the whole main game and Hearts of Stone first. Blood and Wine is amazing! It's like an entire extra game almost
