Honestly, I think those look cooler that way. Some of them are only $50 shipped from japan.
90 watts, as listed, would be the Celestion-made MC-90 "Black Shadow" speaker, which is basically a beefed up Classic Lead 80. The EVM-12Ls are 200 watts and up.The Eristic wrote:Beat up, but this is a great deal if the original EV is still in there.

Maybe not. In the early 70s Traynor did make some solid state amps that, from the front, look identical to the tube-power counterparts. I've only seen combo versions, but a head is certainly possible and logical - and had a similar faceplate and control set to the YVM series...daedelus23 wrote:http://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Traynor/Voicemate-Reverb-YVM-3-Solid-State-Guitar-Amp-Head-112432972.gc?cntry=us&source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI06DR4OqE2AIVTVcNCh2lhAayEAQYAyABEgKczfD_BwE
The listing says YVM solid state Voicemate but that pic is a Traynor YGL-3A all tube head. Killer twin-style tube amp with reverb and tremolo. Easily worth twice what they're asking.
Good eye. Wolf in wolf's clothing. Another classic GC miss. Apparently the interwebs don't reach the used gear counter. THe SS v tubes is a massive ???? Edit: benefit of the doubt says maybe it got sold to GC without tubes, dude looks in back and sees no glassware and says SS. Guessing.daedelus23 wrote:http://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Traynor/Voicemate-Reverb-YVM-3-Solid-State-Guitar-Amp-Head-112432972.gc?cntry=us&source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI06DR4OqE2AIVTVcNCh2lhAayEAQYAyABEgKczfD_BwE

Someone else mentioned it might be one of their 70s solid states, but I dunno ... it looks identical to the control set on my YGL3. In any case it sold to some lucky buyer.fuzzisokiguess wrote:Good eye. Wolf in wolf's clothing. Another classic GC miss. Apparently the interwebs don't reach the used gear counter. Killer name btw, makes me think James Joyce and Michael Jordan, which is a rare/dynamic duo.
No Robert Anton Wilson influence?daedelus23 wrote:And the user name: it's a Joyce / William Burroughs (the rule of 23) reference.
Yeah, definitely him as well. Forgot about him. I have a friend who got to hang out with him a couple times before he died. Wish I'd had the chance to shoot the breeze too. Bet that would have been a fun conversation. His book Prometheus Rising probably had more of an effect on me than I'd admit to in polite company.John wrote:No Robert Anton Wilson influence?daedelus23 wrote:And the user name: it's a Joyce / William Burroughs (the rule of 23) reference.
There's an extensive interview he did that was released a while ago, something like six cassette tapes. It's not hanging out with him, but it's really nice to just hear him go on and on about the topics (in that particular RAW way).daedelus23 wrote:Yeah, definitely him as well. Forgot about him.
