Health and Bright Eyes come to mind

Coheed and Cambria when Second Stage came out....but then I came around.

With you on this. Pallbearer I still love that first album but I walked out of their show after two songs it was so boring. Doom bands shouldn't be heavier recorded than live. It was like a couple practice amps and old mate wailing away over the top.

Kyuss I'll listen to but 15 odd years of people trying to sound like that dude has really soured it.

Ah, what I like to call Theory of a NickelCreed, or what megaproducer Butch Walker calls, "The pickle-in-mouth technique." Eddie Vedder originated it and it should have never been replicated.

Bob. Again... need to stress, not hating. Kinda like them. But I could never get into them, because he's so... yelly.

LOL... as a fan I have had this conversation with so many people!
To me, it was always the best voice, because it was the only voice that dared to be as shaky and over-emotive as I actually was IRL. :idk:
Truly, he is one of those artists you either love, or you hate. Find me someone with a moderate opinion of Bright Eyes, yahmean?

LOL... Pavement, that's just blasphemy, Malkmus has the best wry indie '90s voice.
But this is legit what Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse sounds like

Obviously... I'm a huge fan of Moz.
If you think of him as a rock singer, it makes no fucking sense.
If you think of him as a crooner, it makes PERFECT sense.
Ditto Jim Morrison, Julian Casablancas, Zach Condon

That's because he's probably fucking deaf. Have you heard him play live? It's so fucking loud.

Never had the opportunity, but I watched a recent Letterman performance where it was so loud you could see the camera shake a bit, and dust falling off the studio rafters. I definitely appreciate that.

TRUTH! I have always, always said this. Danzig and Idol are crooners, every bit in the same lineage as Sinatra and Bennett... and they got it through Jim IMO

QUESTION

Does this suck... or does it suck so bad it's good again?
