Dream Theater though. They haven't had a good album in over a decade.

As far a cheesy 80's prog, yeah. Their latest album had a lot more energy than anything they've done since 2002, but Jesus Christ they need to have someone else write the lyrics/melodies. There's only so much cheese I can handle in the name of nostalgia.

Only if you give a shit about mass media, but the thing is importance? maybe in a Michael Jackson, Madonna since but so what? I can dismiss them too, they don't effect what I like or care about. Maybe to you or people that care about what is on tv it might be important, to people that have a hard time digesting anything but what get played on the radio [yes sadly people still listen to the radio] maybe important or not.. again so what? things are only important to you or anyone else if they are or not. I can google this great important and it tells me what? another pop star that does shit and says shit? There is sadly no way you can make that not boring to me..

I'm gonna have to argue this on account of the fact that College Dropout is the single best rap/hip-hop record of the 2000's and I don't really see anyone surpassing it? Maybe To Pimp A Butterfly but that didn't resonate the same way for me.

Yeah, I'd say the same thing, To Pimp A Butterfly is pretty incredible, but after that, Kanye's music is pretty much untouchable if we're talking hip-hop since 2000. College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy are both incredible. I don't need to go all fanboy or anything... the music speaks for itself. Actually one of the most annoying things to me about people who say they hate Kanye is that they seem to be hung up on him, the celebrity, the person, never his music. That would be like saying, "I can't listen to Siamese Dream because of Billy Corgan's transphobic spat with Devi Ever."

I've never fond his stuff interesting, the celebrity just means you can't go anywhere anymore without seeing boring people being boring and I've have never liked SP You all can harp all you want but in the end if I am not interested I am not, and not amount of telling me why I HAVE TO LIKE THIS will work, I don't ask people to like what I do and don't care if you don't like what I like.. also.. this was too easy… All I did was have to pick something mildly annoying at random and because opinions are opinions and so forth, and so what?

Oh, I DEFINITELY stand by the T&N part. I suppose you have a very valid point about SP, that was hypocritical of me.

I was a massive Pumpkins fan as a kid and all that was sacred abut that is dead to me now as a direct result of my once hero being a douche.

I think its because music is a place what allows you to be whoever you want. If you want to revel in the reality of your deficiencies you can do that. Or, if you want to make yourself the idealized version of the person you are you can do that too. Alot of black metal was made by people who didn't necessarily have an outlet for the things they didn't like about their society because those things were labeled hateful and counterproductive.

If we judged music solely on the ideas or actions of the people who made it wed have a lot bleaker landscape. I would much rather dylan roof dropped the gnarliest most pissed off album of the year than go into a church and start blasting away.

It makes me wonder what would have happened if some of these guys had been given an outlet for the things they were feeling...at a certain point we have to accept forums for people to voice unpopular opinions...but then i think about the members of the black circle that found no catharsis in the music and went ahead and did awful shit anyway. Is it because they were never really into the music or did the music spur them on? Would it have been much worse without the bands?
