Re: The Video Game thread
Jesus Christ. People are already complaining about Witcher 3's graphics.
EDIT:
And... it's an amazing game. Even wearing my Wolf Medallion while playing, christ I'm lame.
EDIT2:
I'm super happy with Geralt being audibly sarcastic and annoyed by receiving minor questing/fetching requests.

I know i've bitched about Steam here before....but I really really wish that you could buy some games WITHOUT Steam being involved. I just don't like having a third party involved when I pay for something. I've had Steam crash, and had to re-download it, losing my games and having to re-download them as well, which can take for-goddamn-ever.

Started playing Pillars of Eternity last week. Pretty awesome, but it runs like shit on my laptop. Makes me want to just download Baldurs Gate II and nerd out for months.
My wife got Sims 4 and she gave me a copy on my computer. I'm enjoying building ridiculous houses while I browse ILF on my phone.

I've been putting in 8-9 hour sessions, which I never do. I've must've played 40+ hours in the past 4 days alone. Honestly, with minor bugs - this is the best RPG since Mass Effect 2.
It's exactly what I want in a game.

Well, you can guard and stuff without having to put points into them, so there's that.
It seems to be more forgiving, as far as easing you in. Being open world, it depends on WoW style enemy and quest levels, so you can just run across something that will totally hand your ass to you.
They streamlined all the alchemy stuff. You don't have to meditate to make/take potions, anymore.
Keeping up with all the creatures weaknesses and whatnot with the beastiary is super gratifying and also totally necessary.
It's still really challenging, but not just trial by fire wreck your shit style.

Its tough but fair, like a better balanced Souls game. Every enemy can be tackled, provided you adjust your tactics according tto the enemy. Its possible to kill a group of lv 12 bandits while at lv3. But if you died, its because you didnt prepare properly. Also, Geralt's combat motion capture looks so fucking good when dodging and pirouetting. You may aswell enjoy every fight individually.
I don't know if people are going to like this game as much as I do, but I havent enjoyed a game like this in years. Not since Skyrim. But Witcher 3 has ten times the detail in every aspect, and it clicked with me immediately, while Skyrim took ages to get into.
Killer soundtrack too. Especially the Ladies of the forest theme

What are you playing on Andrew? Hit any bugs?
I'm on PS4 and have had one quest not start properly and one hard lock.

Re: The Video Game thread
Thanks guys.
It looks like just the game I want to play right now, but I need money for a graphics card before I try and run something intensive like that. One of my peeves about Witcher 2 was how how many fights could turn into a war of attrition too easily. Maybe I just sucked at it
I hated having to meditate to make/drink potions. It felt like it just added unnecessary time to the gameplay. I hope I can play it sooner than much later...
I ended up getting my hands on the first Dark Souls. I've played DS2 a bunch so I'm curious how much harder the first might be. It's a lot different not being able to fast travel. So many games these days have that.

Re: The Video Game thread
I got witcher this weekend and so far im somewhat bored with it. I wasn't the biggest fan of witcher 2 though... So far ive just been hacking everything to death and either dodging or using igni. Im at the point where you fight the griffin after the nilfgaardian settlement...I hope it opens up soon.
I really want to try bloodbourne but im not about to plunk down $60 on a game I may end up hating. Im not really stricken by the gameplay but the character design and story are really attractive to me. Im not really super advanced controller play im more of a strategy guy. I really miss turn based combat.

That griffin fight is the end of the prologue. It'll let you out into the world after that.
I'm really enjoying the game, but, honestly, the combat is kind of the least appealing part, for me. It feels really weightless at times. Creatures just keep attacking through your attacks. You just soak up so much damage.
