I like that most of the stuff on Profound Lore actually has good production. So sick of the Fisher-Price my-first-cassette-player production style.

Profound Lore in general has been killing it lately. I don't listen to everything they put out, but I like what I do hear from them.

I haven't read this entire thread, because I'm a jerk. :omg:

I spent some years chasing all kinds of new and different black metal bands, only to finally realize that the best stuff really comes from the classic '90s Norwegian scene. Darkthrone, Emperor, Ulver, Burzum, Helheim, Borknagar, Mayhem, Forgotten Woods, Enslaved, etc.

And I do still like some new stuff. Volahn are great and I adore many Profound Lore bands. I'll always always always jump on new Enslaved, Drudkh, and Agalloch (if they count). Nasheim probably put out the best new black metal I've heard in a decade. Blah blah blah...

Nasheim's new release was great. Almost everything Northern Silence has been putting out recently has been good. The new Saor, Ghost Bath, Woods of Desolation, Ered Wethrin, Emyn Muil, etc.

I can't stand the production on it. It is brickwalled to shit and I don't understand that at all, as the last few albums have had really nice production. Makes everything feel flat and annoying after a while. I wish they'd do like Brutal Truth and record the whole album again live in the studio. Evolution in One Take was so badass. Go on enslaved... Do it!

I loved it but I moved to another state, plus we always had tons of problems keeping a stable lineup. I miss that drummer - he was amazing.
