I find it extremely hard to stay in tune even with a five in A. I don't know what it is.

What kind of bass are you using?

Also, 8 strings. Man. I wish. My tiny little hands couldn't do it. I could barely do the 6 I had.

It's just a Squier P-bass with DDT strings. The tone is only ok (those strings died fast!!!), but it really never goes out of tune (barring weather). I fix the tone with pedals though. It gets a lot of play since it sits right by my computer. I use my stingray for jazz band though. No need for A tuning haha!
awesome signature with witty quotes from all you fuckers :)

I fucked up the middle finger on my left hand about a week and a half ago. I was using my pole saw while on a ladder and I my finger was nailed by a pretty big limb that was a bit rotted and therefore kind of fell of the tree instead of having to be cut normally and fall in a way that wouldn't hit me.

The day after, my finger was purple under the nail and around the nail. Not a deep purple bit it was noticeably discolored and a bit swollen. I have been aware of the finger since then, just a dull pain unless I am using it a lot.

OMG, it hurts so bad to play bass! I have been howling when playing,To push with the finger is crazy painful. I am wondering if I bruised the bone or something.

I have health insurance..I should act like act it.

I no longer play bass. My kids like ukeleles. I am a Uke Man. Or Ukeman. I play plastic xylophones. With pink ribbons in my hair. Ukes can still fuzz if electric acoustic. Plastic xylophones can't fuzz. At least not where I'm from.

Mudfuzz wrote:I like 5ers best :idk: although I own a ton of 4s… really I just wish more pickup types were made for basses with more than than 4 strings… The thing about 6ers for me is I think they are cool but I am finding that I always want to go more them one string higher.. and one string lower.. and then bass VIs are too guitar like to be a actual instrument of usefulness.. and that is why I building an 8 string :idk:
I love my 5 and 4 string basses. Never had any trouble with the string spacing on the 5, but I'm always switching between electric and acoustic guitar, classical guitar, bass 4 or 5 string, soprano ukulele . I have guitars with different scale lengths so my hands are just used to different spacings. The only problem I have with the 5 string is keeping that low b string from droning and rumbling away on its own. I'm sure it happens as well on a 6 or more stringed bass with the low strings.

I have two 4s and a 5. I'm pretty comfortable with both, but I really only need the 5er because a bunch of our cover tunes are down in A or B, but I still need the G for some riffs. As for playing down in A, you guys need to get on the Circle K ish, that shit stays in tune as low as you want to go, and you still have good tension too.

My cover band played a badass gig last weekend, the place was freaking pumping. I was jumping around and sweating like a fat pig, it was great.

what's wrong with odd string numbers?!

Unfortunately, when I pick up a 5-string it's like playing a -6 string (yes, negative 6-string i.e more than half my instrument is gone) :erm:

I think Ben just has OCD. Isn't that what this is? LOL

I wish I could play a larger bass, but I just can't get the hang of it. I've tried the whole tapping thing too, and I can do like a tiny, tiny bit, but it's no good. No Bueno! It's like when I try to slap...yea....fuck that shit.

I've been eye fucking Dingwalls again lately, but it's mostly after Sheldon posted that sexy long hair cut pic of his on Facebook. hahaha. Looks like a porn shot or something from Glamour shots. But seriously been thinking about a 6 string Dingwall. I would have to save for it but I'm pretty dead set on a Z3. They seem the zingiest.

That said, I bought some stainless steel strings today. That's going to be fun.

You know what's weird, I play 99% 4-string, never really like 5-string, am lost as shit on 6-string...

...but I have always wanted a 7-string bass. And I would string that bitch up from low C# to G. :omg:

Invader Zim, Calvin and Hobbes, and Home Movies. I don't need the pedals but I love those etchings.
