frettage?

Post by Chankgeez »

How many frets do you favor on yo' favorite instrument?

(The guitar I play most often has 22, but I think I can get by with just about 19.)

Optimal would be 24 for dem octaves, but 19 would be doable.

are you a tiny baby

Just kidding. :p

I have personally never found myself using anything above, like, the 16th fret of a guitar.
The guitar I've played most for years, a Washburn, has 24 frets.
Mostly playing a jazzmaster now, those are 21 frets, yes?

I prefer 32.

Just kidding. My bass is a 22-er, but I'd love to get something over 24. Still, I an't complainin'.

Yeah, I thought anything above that was only for wanking? :snax:

23 on my Gretsch. Rarely go above 15 or tune my guitar.

I'm never that far up on the neck, but three of them are 21 and one 22. All Fender or Fender-type guitars.

Don't even joke, we could start talking about microtonal instruments. :D

 On normal guitars, I like the 19th fret harmonic. It's nice to have a fret there to know where it is. (I also sometimes use my pickups as a guide to play higher harmonics.) I usually don't fret higher than the 17th fret or so though.

24 for octaves and tapping, but that's mostly because I should be playing a chapman stick.

I have never played a guitar and said "this doesn't have enough frets." So like 19-22 I guess?
