Not in my experience of owning one. And the modes and tap tempo synch possibilities make it an incredible tool. Fully loaded and sounds fantastic with fuzz.
Here it is with an analogue drum machine

Meh, boring rhythms in the modes and boring waveforms, it doesn't even have a random mode, no external tap, no vocal quality and no phatness, one of the worst filters ever in my opinion.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

 he sure doesn't like the Funkzilla. I think it's great if you're ino experimenting and have an imagination the possibilities are incredible for an envelope filter.

Not really, he sometimes makes strange suggestions in my view though and seems to like just about everything.
The only thing really unique about the Funkzilla is the mode control but I found the rhythms in there very corny.
I'd rather control a really good filter with my Goatkeeper (jwar has one too) or put the Goatkeeper in front of a really good envelope filter, it sounds way cooler and has much less limitations in my opinion, especially since we're talking about a filter for bass duties here.

By the way, I was mistaken about the Henretta Big Zapper, I mentioned it because it is like two different envelope filters in one but I forgot that it's two bandpass filters only.
If Kevin can make a lowpass version or maybe even one that is switchable between bandpass and lowpass that would be awesome but otherwise I think it probably won't be what you're looking for jwar.

I just wanted to say that I just discovered the wonders of tremolo into envelope filter. Now I need both. :picard:

Speaking of band pass. The Cyber Psychic is cool, lots of fun, but it is bandpass only. The are some really neat things you can do with it, it is an instrument by itself even.

Playing bass through it felt pretty limiting, if you set the filter frequency to the sweet vocal range you lose low end, dialing it lower felt too woofy. There are BP filters that work better for bass IME, maybe some are voiced with more boost than cut?

I'm all about the low pass on bass anyways.
I've been searchin' for the dolphins in the sea.

 Yeah, that was really my point. He seems to have something good to say about every pedal, while you're way more critical.

I got offered a trade on CL for a Subdecay Prometheus. I'm watching demos right now and drinking coffee and prowling around my living room like a crazed ape gassing for this pedal.

I'm gonna do it, but it's going to take a while to connect with the dude.

Ah, right right, agreed, what the word 'the' can do for the meaning of a sentence hey. ;)
In all honesty I'm quite critical and have my own tastes, I'm not a noise player at all but I like pedals that can get pretty extreme sounds, I also like versatility.
If a pedal is too bread and butter chances are I probably won't like it, in case of a filter, to really be called a filter in my opinion it has to be able to go deep and on the verge of self oscillation, if it can't, forget about it. :D
Also, I have way less money to spend than Gramfather so I can't afford to like everything.
Besides that I think the best way to give advice is to really look for which application and under which circumstances something will be used.
