Yeah so after 4 or 5 hours sunk into Beyond Earth, I think it's very cool. I think all the changes they've made from Civ V really fit the theme and setting, like how starts work, how the differentiation between civs is more based upon the choices you make during the game than your starting point. It's really working for me.

It's kind of dull, but I actually really like how there's just groups of countries under the one empire rather than just Space Sweden or Space Australia.

Re: The Video Game thread
Ok so I stayed up way too late last night finishing a short game of beyond earth and it is actually pretty cool.
Monkey was spot on with the in game decision making process. I got all hippie about shit and tried to get all in harmony with the planet. As soon as you even start to head in that direction, even before you go all xenomorph gene splicer, the AI leaders get up your arse and start hassling you about how wrong and gross it is.
Meanwhile, motherfuckers are bombing each other for petrol.
My civs are all living until their 1000 or some shit, huffing on miasma hookahs.
Anyway, the game was over at like 300 turns, I can see it getting very cool on a longer timeline.
Also I played as space Straya. I just got the game to load me up a short match on random settings and that's what it came up with. Didn't realise that future Australia would be all about being an economic dick feeder, so I played for scientific enhancement toward terraforming and alien symbiosis as well as not pandering to the religious nuts and being super spy master.
Basically, everything I want my country to be that it is not.
Good fun.
And the chick from the Indian/pakistani alliance thing is pretty hot, but also a psycho bitch.

Ducky is the best.
Anyway,
I'm still kind of thinking about getting a PS4 and hooking it up to my Pc monitor. I just want Metal Gear already.

I just got a PS4 and the MGS prologue game. Both are amazing! I cannot wait for the actual game to come out either.

Bought the Witcher and the Witcher 2 on steam yesterday. Thank you sales.
Still playing some Diablo 3 but now that I'm older I'm not sure how much patience I have for jamming rifts/greater rifts into eternity.

I utterly love the Witcher series, the first game combat hasn't aged well.
The books are great as well, completely different Canon mind you.

Oh well. It was only $15 on Origin so no big loss.
