Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
I don't see the point of 7 string guitars to be honest, if you downtune a 6 string with an optimised string gauge it just sounds so much heavier and way more powerful, there is not one dude/dudette who sounds as heavy and powerful on a 7 string guitar as on a 6 string downtuned guitar, at least I've never met such a guy/gal.

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
That's true if we're just talking about the hebbies but there are certain things that a 7 can do that a 6 can't in regards to like arpeggios, tapping, fingerstyle etc. I wish the market for 7s wasn't exclusively the hebby market where they're usually redundant anyway because then we might see some affordable options that sound or look nicer for the non-hebbies. The only nice one I've played is the schecter ar-07 which is almost unobtanium outside japan and still overpriced to begin with.Tristan wrote:I don't see the point of 7 string guitars to be honest, if you downtune a 6 string with an optimised string gauge it just sounds so much heavier and way more powerful, there is not one dude/dudette who sounds as heavy and powerful on a 7 string guitar as on a 6 string downtuned guitar, at least I've never met such a guy/gal.

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
Truth, I didn't think of that, usually people don't play like that on a 7 string, I guess it's more difficult to do and the more open sound of a downtuned 6 string in general lends itself more for that sort of playing style maybe.
I think there's some builders who do hollow or semi-hollow 7 string variants but then they're usually more Jazz oriented and also hella expensive.

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
I have been thinking about both of those lately too
I think the Whammy
To get the most out of the pitchfork you'd need an expression pedal I feel
And the whammy seems to have better sound quality

Yeah, I already need an exp for my meet Maude. I don't want to have to keep switching it back and forth or buy and expressionator. Plus I can keep the whammy on the floor next to the board to save space.goosekevin wrote:I have been thinking about both of those lately too

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
I saw a guy demoing a pitch fork in store the other day and was pretty damn impressed with how it sounded, so idk might be worth giving it a shot. This was on guitar though. I wasn't really interested in it prior but I kinda want one now cos it seems to have its own cool thing going on. The momentary feature seems to work pretty well.

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
The momentary thing is what really has me wanting it. Well, plus the dual up/down harmonies. Can the whammy do dual harmonies? I know you can go back and forth between them but if you put the rocker in the middle does it do both? Might be a dealbreaker.

Would the H9 be an acceptable substitute?

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
Yeah, probably if you think you might use some of the other modes too I'd go for it!
I'm gassing for utility things mainly
Capo, slide, volume pedal, bigger board, quality cables etc

Re: Sunday GAS party(winter)
I keep a list in my google keep of my current GAS. Pretty small at the moment.
Expression pedal, Polytope (always), Count to 5, Gears, some kind of pitch shifter, and a reverb. I'm leaning towards the DBA reverb or the Industrialectric reverb, but the Afterneath is pretty appealing too.
Surprisingly I don't have much fuzz GAS ATM. Just want to order the parts for my Mammoth build. And the Mantic Vitriol, even though there are hardly any demos of it.
Also trying to decide if a bass vi or a new 4 string is more important.

Hands down the Industrialectric RM-1N. That thing is the best! And I only have the first production model that's missing a lot of the newer features!neonblack wrote:I keep a list in my google keep of my current GAS. Pretty small at the moment.

And Bass VI for sure. It will change your life
