Gyuh. Decided on a whim to see if I could get the Demon Greathammer in DS2 with a new character. Yes. First try even. Cool. So what do I do? I play a new character for 2 1/2 hours straight trying to level up enough to use it. I forgot about equipment load At least if I use this character, he'll be one bad Mofo once I get that vitality up.......
Edit: Or I could just run around naked..... boss spoiler if anyone cares. God damn.

just play the damn game and dont just go off what someone says..
Sometimes people don't want to drop $60 just to find out if they like the game or not
After everything I read about Destiny it's a hard pass for me. It sounds like most of the story missions are just, push this button, wait, fight off enemies in this room/area, find bullet sponge boss, repeat.

This is why I like PC games. I can torrent them and see if they get played very much before deciding if I want to buy. Sometimes I just don't play games enough to justify the price tag, unless steam has something on cheap.
I don't have any xboxes, and I probably won't buy one, but.... my friend said that he and his friends spent like and hour and half trying to kill one boss in Destiny But I think he enjoys shit like that, so....to each their own.
I don't think you would buy Destiny for the story alone. At least as it is now/at release. From what I can tell, there really isn't much of a story.......not much explanation behind anything really. It's been said that it's intentionally vague......since they promise a ton of future content. Seems like a new way/strange way of releasing a game.
Hard to rely on reviews alone......since gamers come in many different shades of taste. There are tons of people that love Destiny already, and many that don't. I'm not sure what camp I'm in yet, as I need to play more to have a more informed opinion.
I'm really hoping my normal xbox friends pick it up soon, so I can enjoy the multiplayer stuff. I don't really like playing with strangers.

Exactly. The always online, no pause, and repetitiveness just sound like completely unappealing aspects to a game to me. I don't want a game that 'draws me in' because it doesn't give me the option to leave. I want a game that draws me in because it has good atmosphere and story. It doesn't help that I'm generally not a fan of shooters (especially Halo) or online play to begin with.

In my opinion that might not be a good sign. It seems plausible that the game was released more or less incomplete. I like DLC when it adds to the experience, but not when it feels like it's filling gaps that were there in the "main" version of the game. In those cases it just feels like a lame way to get more money from the gamers. But like I said, I haven't played it, don't plan on it, and to each their own. Just my two cents
Play planetside instead? The plot: There's a war. The missions: Go to a big fight and kill as many people as you can. The bosses: People who actually paid for the game and have way better guns than you.

After playing that new character a bit, and dying repeatedly in goddamn no-man's wharf, I can safely say that it is the most obnoxious area in the game. In all my other plays with different characters, I had the same experience. The lack of a second bonfire, all the dudes throwing oil and flaming arrows, the asshole monkey things (I don't know how to describe them). . . Fuck that place.
played 5 hours straight of Destiny last night. 3 of that with a friend. It's not exactly as engaging as borderlands, diablo III or Bioshock, (IMO) but I'm actually enjoying it. No where as involved as Mass Effect..........which is kinda nice for a fast paced after work shooter. Once I leveled up over 7, skills unlocked and got some decent gear.....it got a lot more fun. The l00t desire is there....mainly I just want to gain abilities/perks......but it's not like Diablo or borderlands in that you're finding a lot of loot........just hoping that you stumble upon the next upgrade (or fuck it, just buy it)
The gameplay so far is basically as reviewed on the webz. Go to a place.....fight off a few waves.......badass spawns and a few more waves.....then the boss spawns with a few more waves of baddies. While similar format, I haven't gotten bored or felt that it's repetitious. Tho, this is the first game I've really played like this. (my brother in-law speed ran me through all of the Halos a while back. hated it.)
