speaking of candy apple red, here is my 66 jvri Jazzmaster with block/binding and a darker candy apple red compared to the 65 avri Jaguar. Both make me I put antiquity II's in the jvri and replaced the spaghetti mess with an american vintage speck wiring harness and all new pots etc.

you know, you posting a pic of your's is what turned me onto them. i already have a travis bean tb1000s that i love but handle with kids gloves....so i was looking for something in the same vein. Maybe an old kramer or...egc. i'm still in the what the hell is going on with these guys stage. seems like they offer a quality instrument.

I can only testify to Mark Bastin's guitars, but from all I know they are very similar to EGC's. At the time when Bastin was around he supposedly had better build quality, but from all I hear every guitar egc has been churning out in the last couple of years was pretty flawless and well set up. If you discount the whole Spaceritual/Beerhammer drama that evetually led to Skully getting his guitar.

If I compare my Bastin to a friend's TB, the Bastin is much more direct, gnarly and overall has a lot more attitude. The TB Standard I played was surprisingly tame which I think has a lot to do with the pickups. What makes the Aluminum guitars to me is the directness of the attack, the sustain, chord clarity and the reliability. I've never had setup issues or anything. The TB had all of the above but the hotter Pickups of the Bastin (and I think the same goes for EGC) are a better translation for the directness. The TB Standard's pickups seemed to mellow that attack down a little.

I've tried a Kramer 450g out for a bit, I had an Obstructures, and now have my EGC.

The Kramer that I had was in pretty poor shape, but in general, the necks are very chunky on them. The guitar neck is as thick as the bass neck

The Obstructures that I had was a really early one, but was different from my current EGC. Obstructures are made out of solid aluminum, unlike EGC's which are hollow aluminum. I had EGC single coils in the Obstructures which were raw, agressive pickups that reminded me of an even raunchier P90, but also had bold cleans.

My EGC has a humbucker in it, just one. The humbucker has more mids than the EGC single coil, which makes it sit out in a mix a little bit better. I've got the Chessie neck profile on mine, so it's thicker than the stock EGC neck and hollowed out in the center for weight. It's an extremely harmonic guitar with gobs of sustain. The craftsman ship is awesome. It was definitely worth what I paid for it, and I've used it both at home and playing out, it's excelled both places. The humbucker has a TON of output

I was wondering about the different neck thickness', i like a chunky gibson/70s fender neck more so than a prs cu24 neck. it would be swell to visit the egc shop if dropping that kind of change on a custom guitar.

If you like chunkier necks, I'd say to go with the Chessie profile. I'm trying to think of a neck to compare it to in terms of thickness. Quite close to the MIM Fender Strat neck I have on my Telemaster. Not a baseball, but not shredder thin either

cool, good to know. there was once upon a time when I loved a shredder neck but not at all anymore, now i love being able to get a grip and wrestle the hell out of the strings i'm out of the loop regards what led beerhammer to sell his to you, was there anything worth knowing regards to quality/custom concerns?
