The beat up guard looks really strange on the body, I'm saving it for another JM build this year!
Yeah this is the mascis body stripped and stained - which I would highly recommend not doing.
The mascis body has a veneer on the front and back of mahogany for some reason and it's just a pain in the ass.

How do you like the telenater T3 CuNiFe? For the price they better make my dick bigger

I love it! Its beyond easy to hear the improvements. I guess he just doesn't sell enough to make them any cheaper...or he has a poor business plan? But once you hear it, its not a subtle improvement. I thought about putting a pair in my Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster, but that's just too much money  I went with a nice set of Curtis Novak WRHB...which weren't too inexpensive either :grumpy: ...they are much more balanced than the stock pups and a great improvement, but nowhere as nice as the Telenator.

Just completed a strat renovation, originally it was a bog standard generic strat.

Here's how it looked after I was done with it:

And click here for the thread on the process :joy:

I have this thing tuned to open F (CFCFAC) and it plays and sounds AWESOME. No longer feels or sounds like a 13+ year old second hand Peavey strat

65 avri Jazzmaster. Not usually a fan of the burst, but I really love the finish on this one.

Dude, you and I are on the same guitar train right now. There is a one of these marked down to $2k right now [fuck, when did AVRI's become so expensive?] that I like a lot at a shop in town. It plays beautifully. I want a metallic finish right now, though. Superficial aesthetics aside, that is a lovely guitar, and if it plays like the one I keep trying out, it's probably going to be a major keeper.

  i cannot believe how nice that avri plays. hell, all of the avri that i own are stellar instruments. i've got a candy apple red 65 avri Jaguar that is the definition of beautiful, if i had a little less impulse control all of my guitars would be candy apple red  I can't believe how inflated teh prices of the avri have gotten, but thats the game. I remember when I worked at a guitar shop back in the mid 90s and for a year it was literally every two months we would get a new price guide from Gibson for the Les Pauls. For some reason they were raising in price at weird intervals. I'm glad I was able to buy mine back then at the actual cost, i basically worked for gear. was a good gig to have....sweet memories.

speaking of candy apple red, here is my 66 jvri Jazzmaster with block/binding and a darker candy apple red compared to the 65 avri Jaguar. Both make me  I put antiquity II's in the jvri and replaced the spaghetti mess with an american vintage speck wiring harness and all new pots etc.

I'm a musician, these are recent purchases over the last couple years. I've been playing guitar from around 1989 and my first gig was as salesman at an indie instrument shop while in high school. I got paid comission and basically worked for gear  I was also introduced to the studio envionnt behind the boards at this time and learned loads of knowledge which led me to opening my own studio while in my mid 20s. Enough rambling. I'm always buying gear for the studio :joy: ;)
