TAFM vs Red Witch Fuzz God II

Post by frigid midget »

Okay, this isn't meant as a "which one's better" sort of thread, where every post is a vote for your personal favorite...

But can someone break down the basic differences for me? They're pretty different pedals, but there does seem to be a lot of overlap.

What can(t) be done with one pedal that can be done with the other, which one would you use for what type of sound, etc?

I've got a RW FuzzGod II, which is all kinds of awesome. I really have no good reason to replace it, but the TAFM demos and rviews got me gassing

The standard ILF answer is: why not just buy both?

In this case, though, it's especially true: the TAFM has a clean blend, which would make it especially awesome for stacking after the Fuzz God.

Thanks. Right now it's looking looking more like I'll have to get by with neither

I was just curious to hear though, for when I get back on my feet. Both probably won't ever be an option, there's no way I'm ditching any of my other fuzz peds, and my board is alredy crowded, so...:idk:

fuzz good oscillates and seems to get a lot more squelchy and starved and maybe has a wider range of tones bc of that?
but i like the main sound of the tafm better

Thanks.

I had a little fuzz session yesterday at home, plugged in every dirt pedal I had, switching everything around, trying different combinations...

If I don't want to go banrupt, and I want to stick to my small-ish pedalboard instead of a bigger one...One of my fuzz pedals will have to go. As much as I love my FGII, it takes up the most space, and it'll fetch me a little more than my boss pedals. My good old FZ-2 is better suited for the sort of stuff I'm playing lately. Not so much need for oscillation mayhem or vintage style tones these days. It can do more than that though, but I just have to sacrifise something...

If anyone's interested, check out the b/s/t section
