I really like Weekend Nachos. Band gets pretty ignorant. I think Worthless is my favorite record by them. It has some good sludgy stuff, too. It grooves.

That being said, I'm not super into power violence or anything and I wouldn't know the first fucking thing about the merits of its origins, etc.

Spazz, Scholastic Deth, Most of the Slap A Ham and 625 Thrashcore stuff. There's a difference between Power Violence and Thrash, but it's pretty similar tonally: All the best stuff is Super Fucking Irreverent, which is what makes it much more fun to listen to than a lot of grindcore.

Spazz, Scholastic Deth, Most of the Slap A Ham and 625 Thrashcore stuff. There's a difference between Power Violence and Thrash, but it's pretty similar tonally: All the best stuff is Super Fucking Irreverent, which is what makes it much more fun to listen to than a lot of grindcore.

Almost not worth mentioning it at all, but one of the little happy moments of finishing the first Mental Waste album was the dude from Spazz who ran 625 Thrashcore said he thought it was good.

Spazz, Man Is The Bastard, Charles Bronson for older stuff. Full Of Hell is my favorite current band doing it. A lot of people will say Nails but they're barely even powerviolence (though definitely worth checking out).

That video is my life. They're definitely on the more experimental/atmospheric/doomy side. They oft site Merzbow (who they're putting out an album with on Profound Lore later this year) and Sunn O))) as influences.

I didn't see this video earlier, but Full of Hell are my dudes! I think I've played with every single band anyone in that band has been in except for FoH, and they all fucking kill it. Which reminds me, everyone listen to Jarhead Fertilizer.

Apparently at the Savannah show last night the promoter stole all of the money from the show from all of the bands and skipped town before the show was over. He has since deleted all of his personal social media accounts and has disappeared. Shit's fucked up.

Yeah, fuck that guy. When I lived down there you never heard of anyone doing that sort of thing. It was always awesome and the people booking shows always took care of the bands. I don't know how much has changed though since I've been there. That was about 10 years ago. We will be down there in October though, supposedly with one of the bands on Kylesa's label.

Recorded drums for those two songs this morning at our space. Nailed both in one take each. Drummer is fucking amazing. Came home and set everything up to record my guitars but all I got done was the clean stuff on one of the songs. Right when I got done with it a huge fucking thunderstorm came up so I shut everything down. I'm gonna try to knock out the rest of mine on Tuesday when I get home from work and then everyone else later during the week.

Yeah.....posted about it on our facebook and it's gotten close to 1,000 views with tons of people posting about the info, so hopefully they catch up with the guy.

Also, very awesome about both the recording and the october show. We want to come up and play GA real bad.

Supposedly he has paid back most of the bands but still... thats pretty fucked up. Let me know when you wanna head up this way and I'll see what I can do about getting you guys a show. Can't promise any kind of guarantee but usually the shows up here give all the door money to the touring bands and donations are taken up as well.

Anyone have vocal tips/tricks for doom and other heavy genres? I've used the zen of screaming and some online guides before, but everything ends up sounding too rehearsed and not very raw, but the way I'm doing it now rips my vocal cords up.

I think your doing fine, your just using too much throat and not enough diaphragm. We'll get you set straight...

I got a few more emails from drummers this weekend, so hopefully they all don't schedule jam sessions and then flake out lol.

I've had about 5 emails from drummers so far today. One of them was all the way in Oakland, which is too damned far. Hopefully I can find someone local or at least as close as Santa Cruz to actually show up at some point.

Got this sexy thing in the mail today. That timbre knob covers a shitload of ground from thin and spatty to wide open middy growl. I've been looking for a fuzz to cop some Uncle Acid toanz, and this does it in spades. It's a goddamn riff machine. Highly recommended, my dudes.

In related news, I am probably going to sell my Zap Machine and/or Black Forest, so hit me up if you're in the market for either.
