That is so cool. It's tuned like a Bass VI, right? I oughta get a neck like that... it works well for you? How conversion necks work is confusing to me.
Things I want and do not have: A decent microphone for my amp, someone/something to play drums for me, and most of the things I see on this forum.

So my wife right? she sez "well if you want a jazzmaster so much why don't you put $50 a paycheque away every time and in a few months you can pay for a jazzmaster and you can pay cash for it" and I know she's thinking "he'll never follow through with it. He'll get bored and never contribute and spend his money on beer or magic beans or something ha ha ha" WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW IT'S CERTAINLY NOT THE NEIGHBOURS

Almost finished with my baritone JM.

Image

Had it at practice for the first time, on Wednesday...
Good Lord, I love this thing!!!
Tuned A-to-A, played through a Super Reverb. So ballsy.. it loves the Rangemaster; and it rings on for EVER.
Uhuhuhuhuhuh.....

The last thing to do, is rewire it so the rhythm circuit on/off becomes a Jag-style treble-bleed.
I AM EXCITE!! :!!!:

Every time I come here I think " I don't NEED a Jazzmaster, my Tele hauls ass and the Strat sounds beautiful. I can do without". Then I see these thread and I'm like "FUCK ME AND MY BROKE ASS".

Seriously need to get one. Just dont wanna deal with that bridge thing.

Get a Squier Vintage Modified and drop a Mustang bridge in there (or if you're feeling flush, a Staytrem or Mastery one). Don't look back.
The bridge thing isn't really an issue if things are set up right, and the Squiers are bloody fantastic bits of kit for the money.

Dooo eeeeet.

So I just got done hacking this fucker up. GFS firebird pickup in neck position, pick guard cut to fit around it (went shockingly well since pickup route was done with a chisel and pick guard was done with wire cutters + sandpaper  ) and wired it up like a broadcaster. Haven't had a chance to properly hear it, but I played for a few minutes thru shitty Peavey practice amp and headphones. I'll run it thru my main amp after I've had some sleep and maybe upload something to soundcloud for you guys!

What color is that tele? It looks like purple sparkle (Like on the J Mascis Fender Jazzmaster) in the picture, but I have a feeling it's actually some sort of metallic red. Another question, how hard was routing out the guitar with a chisel? My friend is selling me an old strat copy and I'm considering putting the SD Antiquity humbucker I have laying around in the bridge position.

I've done it with a chisel before and it's time consuming, fairly risky, and definitely not the first way I would have gone about routing out the guitar that I did that way if I had the tools to do it another way.

I'd definitely suggest something like a Dremel instead

I used a router and almost fucked everything up. The body is hard ash and that's no joke. Ended up with a odd shaped hole. I figure next time I'm feeling ambitious, I'll go back in and make it bigger and square, so it doesn't look so amateur underneath the pickguard, and to give me the option to drop a full humbucker in the mid position.
