I need a new flanger and can't decide if I should get a TC Electronics Vortex or an Electric Mistress. I'm leaning towards the Vortex since it would be quieter, more flexible/versatile, has TZF, etc.

But still

The Electric Mistress is so unique.

To be honest out of all the flangers I've owned, the Vortex was my least favourite. It is definitely quiet and versatile if that's what you're looking for, but sounds noticeably different to any analog flanger, I wouldn't necessarily say 'sterile' but it wasn't an inspiring sound to me. I'm sure others have had different experiences though. My favourites are the A/DA flanger and Boss BF-2/HF-2.

I love the Vortex for what it is, but I'd never have it as my only flanger. It's not warm sounding at all. It does a bunch of cool tricks though.

Very good to know, as it was on the top of my list. Damn, I wish there were something that could do a good stereo TZF. :(
