When I posted that pic of the Tele deluxe w/ P90s I just sort of pulled that idea out of my ass in thinking that I always liked them and would want different pups than are in my jag.

guess what someone just posted on craigslist... :erm:

All you lapsteel jerks got me dreaming of drones so I've been thinking about grabbing one of these Rogue setups since they seem to get good reviews for the money.
I'm all for more cats hopping the steel train, but don't go with the rogue.

Last summer when I started lusting for steel I played every on I could get my hands on here in NYC, and in Portland Seattle and BC while on vacation. A dozen or so vintage pieces and most of the current production models - including the Gretsch, a Recording King, the peavey power slide, a p90 SX model, and a rogue.

Although the rogue was the least expensive (approx $50 used iirc) and was the only one I tried that came with both a bag and a (built in, via screw on height adjustable legs) stand, I couldn't do it. It sounded horrid. Really the least inspiring of all the instruments I tried, lifeless, poorly out together, just blah.

Don't do it. If you want a steel and have to do it on the cheap, rondo is the way to go. Only $10-$20 dollars more than the rogue, more options on finish and pickups, better customer support....

Or start keeping your eyes open for a cheap vintage piece.

Thanks for the headsup! I'd hit the rondos but I can't jive with the body shape as I prefer the non-guitar looking ones. I also love vintage, so will be looking. :thumb:

I also think it might be a good starter project once I get my garage cleaned, organized, and have a work space set up. Since I would only really be using it for drones it wouldn't have to be perfect and think it would be a fun build.

Vodka Drunkenski is a much more badass name.
Stupid censorship.

King Hippo is a chump.
Thinks he's too tough for training.
Bro doesn't even lift.
Too cheap to invest in a pair of suspenders.
Fat body gets dropped easily like them draws.
Guaranteed KO.

Sometimes I'd intentionally lose to Glass Joe.
I felt bad for that boy.
I'd like to see a game based on Joe's career.

Also I'm GASing for a pending BitQuest & the new Elements. Soon...
