My roommate's girlfriend tried to kill herself (three times) today at our house. Had to call 911 and everything. Now she's in a hospital's psych ward and won't stop calling us to try and get us to get the doctors to release her.

Not good. He was trying to break up with her and this is how she reacted. The doctors took her phone away after she called him, my girlfriend, and myself for hours on end all night last night and it's not looking like they'll be releasing her today. Her parents are on their way up.

wow...does she have a history of depression or was this just out of the blue?

Yeah. She was on xanax but stopped when she started having suicidal thoughts. She got back on it a few weeks ago and apparently this wasn't the first time she tried something this month.

Whenever I meet someone from an online dating website and they're actually attractive, I'm immensely suspicious. I mean, if you're so good looking what horrible personality flaw has driven you to online dating? I'm just too cowardly to ask a woman out in person, but if I keep finding weirdos online then I might have to find the courage to approach a woman irl.

I had an experience with a really attractive girl from online. She was hot indeed. But yes, very crazy. Not bipolar crazy, just. . .crazy. The other person I met from online I had zero attraction to. I used to hate talking to strangers in general, much less girls, until two things happened. One: I started working foodservice and then retail, where you have to talk to people. It's good practice to talk to customers who are hot. Even if they have a ring on. Two: I realized that if I see someone I think I should talk to, there can be no hesitation. Hesitation=too many doubts.

Whatever you do, regardless of what she does, don't mega-text her or anything if she doesn't get back to you very soon. I tell myself this every time I meet someone new, and I almost always don't follow my own advice.

Yay avoiding the super bowl Usually, if it's not obvious, I ask why she's online. A lot of the attractive women I've met online were online because they were looking for compliments Where I've never really been forced to interact with anyone, a job like that would've been good for me. I need to learn how to talk to people....


I'm not texting her very much. I'm a little annoyed that she put me off twice to "do chores" and "run errands." It might be completely legitimate, but where there was no back story they sound a little made-up. Still, she invited me over for dinner tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes

I admit that this little exchange spurred me to go and check my own online dating profile. Every time I look through possible women, they all make it sound like they have way cooler lives than me. They all travel a lot, are doing what they want for a job....... sigh
