Because of the impedance mismatch between the two pickups (mudbucker reads 30k resistance, Model J is 6.8k), when both are on at the same time the sound is basically a slightly thinner, less bassy version of the Model J toans. It's good for playing chords and stuff because by default the pickup is pretty bassy, even where it is. But I also tend to play on or just before the neck, so that adds to it. I thought they were out of phase with each other but I reversed the polarity on one and it's the same sound.
I'm giving the J bridge position one more chance and right now I'm actually really enjoying it. The Model J does not yield the standard wimpy/nasal Jazz pickup toan, so it's alright. I think it's better for me to not have all of those options as before; I can't settle on a sound when I have more than stupid-simple guitar controls, and it's really annoying.
Might change bridge pickups in the future, dunno. It's been like half a year since I had a playable bass, so I'm just enjoying things at the moment.

Achtane wins the bass thread.

I want a bass or guitar with that finish so badly but I kind of expect if I showed up to jam with the rapper and drummer I'm writing stuff with they'd be like gurrrll you cray.

It's an electrical guitar company (EGC)

Neck and body made of aluminum.

34.5" scale

Tuned F, A#, C#, G# (.190, .142, .106, .079)

I've owned a lot of nice basses over the years, but this one is hands down the winner.
