I've had $$$ saved up for the next round of Dunwich preorders for like 6 months, hopped on that Volt Thrower right quick, already got my Cthulhu and Wizard. I've never been a huge HM2 fan, I'll check out Nick's modded version when I get the tourbox, might change my mind. I'm holding out the rest for the ODB and DA120 OD though.

Well, had my YBA-3 on the market for a few weeks to make up the wallet damage from my SVT, but I made the mistake of playing guitar through it last night (I've used it on bass the last year) with an OCD clone and it sounded goddamn superb. So, I've taken it off CL and I'm just gonna be broke for a while. But now I'm debating putting up my Sunn for sale since people are paying top dollar for that. I love it but sometimes it's a hair underpowered. Would I be a dummy selling it or should I hold on to it?

that's a hard thing to determine. Will they continue to climb in value? My take is that they are WAY overpriced for what you get now, and that's coming from a 69 1200s owner. I'm hanging in to mine but I'm also using it.

I think they're overpriced now, but I'm also pretty sure the genie is out of the bottle, and we'll never see them really depreciate--50 year old amps from defunct companies tend to hold their value pretty well.

If you don't really want to hold on to it, sell away.

Yeah, I had my YBA-3 up for a bit @ $500 and no one bit on it. Which is fine because I don't think they are worth that much and it happens to sounds bad fucking ass on guitar. I noticed someone just picked up a Sunn here for $600 which got me thinking I can make a buck and make up for my SVT $$$. If I use the YBA-3 on guitar, with the Sound City, I wouldn't be using the Sunn at all. But I do think thy will only keep going up and up in the used market. And mine is in pretty top notch shape. It does make me want to keep holding on to it even if it's just collecting dust. I might post a trade for a 2000s, as I've always kinda wanted one of those. Long shot, but I know I saw someone in Nashville wanting to trade their 2000s for a 200s recently. So, there's some hope.

The other thing to consider is that 98% of the people who want to buy your amp (and, really, and tube head of quality) aren't going to want to pay what you've factored in as the cost of shipping.

Speaking as the guy who plays in the band you play those amps for on guitar, I'd rather hear you playing out of the Sound City and the Traynor. The Sunn sounds waaaay better since you fixed it, but it's still kind of underpowered compared to the Traynor. The Traynor is freaking awesome, I'm so glad you're not getting rid of it. If for no other reason than it gives me time to save up cash, in case you decide to sell it again

I can't stand the prices most older amps go for. My vtm120 cost me $350 and it had a bunch of work done to it to make sure it is running as it should be. I thought that was more than reasonable. The shit I see Sunn stuff going for is mind boggling over priced. See people trying to unload the concert leads for $400 and up now. See the amp Conky got going for over $300. Same goes for 80s jcm800s and shit. They aren't worth the price they are going for. I think as the economy and jobs continue to drop people will stop purchasing these amps at these prices forcing the prices to drop, or sellers will get desperate and try and hold out for the sucker willing to pay $600 for an amp that you should be able to score for $300. The personal value people place on shit is absurd. My rant for the day.
