Very disturbing documentary about Rocky Erickson, lead singer of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators.
I watched it the other night.

That movie blew my mind and made me cry a little. I've always known of Roky and loved the music but to know the whole story really brings it all into perspective.

there's a fantastic book on the elevators titled: "eye mind, the saga of roky erickson and the 13th floor elevators" ...
very easy read that goes into detail about their history. those guys were seriously fuct up. apparently everyone except the drummer was taking heavy doses of LSD before every gig. they'd turn up and go off with feedback and volume. and of coarse there's that dude tommy playing the jug. crazy shite for sure.
i got to see roky at austin city limits a couple of years ago...people were crying and shite (actually they were older hippy's...not real people). he had 5 guitar players with him. it was awesome.
he's since had a falling out with his brother sumner, and that whacky chick is back in his life. sad shite.

Well i saw it...
Does Sumner remind anyone of tobias from arrested development in the way he talks, his sort of neo-hippy therapeutic way about him, obviosly not the same person as tobias, just the way he speaks.
I think Roky's mom is just as crazy as he is...
but alas she tried...
what a great musician.
