Listening to Windhand this much really makes me want to sell my Sunn and Traynor and pick up a vintage OR120, GT120, or similar clone. Fuck. Carry on.

Holy shit, what a weekend.
2 shows in 2 days might be pushing it. I think I'll be whispering a lot tomorrow, sounding like some weird movie serial killer or batman. What a fucking blast though. Special guests (yes, that's the name of the band) kicked off the night doing the cky christmas song. The one that starts ou " ya better watch out, ya better not cry CAUSE I'm GONNA KILL YOOOO SANTAS GONNA KILL YOOO!" Oh, dressed in a santa suit, Ian wearing elf ears that fell off as soon as he started rockin out. Fucking hilarious and awesome.. their whole ste fucking ruled. Stereo creeps killed it as well and then we tried to follow al that.
Yeah, so that's why my voice is toast now. Had to skip our (maybe) best song cause there was no way I was going to pull off the vocal parts.
Had a couple cameras rolling throughout so maybe we'll have some more live footage soon.

wish I could do this shit full time. Need some super villian take over the world fundraising schem to make that happen.

Summit, did I read a few pages back you are on the mic? I want to hear that man, you've got a natural way with words we all love. Get yoür record on man.

I'm listening to Wilco at the moment. I don't normally like such airy-fairy music, but it's a very good record (their famous Yankee Hotel Foxtrot) and has some intelligent design to it.
Torche is really fun live.

I listened to the hunter once, thought it kind of sucked, figured it might be the production...
I really enjoy Torche live, having seen them something like 4 or 5 times now. They put on a really good show. Having Andrew from Riddle of Steel in the band is a fun addition. I feel like home boy is always pulling up some weird guitars. Jamming on that BC Rich here and there. That being said, I definitely wasn't into Harmonicraft as much as I was the other records. Though Harmonslaught came back jamming pretty hard with the less poppy heavies.

Also, the Hunter sucks. I gave it one or two listens and was just so bummed out.

I'm kinda on the same plane as you guys for The Hunter in that I'm not too into it. It has a few cool songs but overall I do not like it as much as their other stuff. From what I can remember about the Hunter is that they were basically taking it easy. I think they were all relaxing after the touring of crack the skye and only two of the guys wrote most of the stuff, deciding to write space rock music but with no unifying theme. Crack the skye was them writing prog rock from the 70s. I was also reading a recording article about them recently and the guy who recorded them for the hunter does more pop stuff and that lent a lot to the sound. So I hope the next album they try and write something more cohesive and looks towards their earlier stuff.

I just discovered Windhand the other day when their song Orchard was played on satellite radio. Got home and listened to 2 of their releases on Spotify. Great stuff!

I need to check out more Windhand. I've only heard one or two songs by them and that was while I was up doing other stuff so it was mostly in the background. I've been on an ASG and Crowbar kick for about 2 weeks straight though so I dunno when I'll get out of it.

Windhand is okay. Kvelertak are fucking sweet! Sandrider seems to be the rarest form of awesome band. By that I mean I think I actually like the recordings better than the shows. I've said it before but that guy has too much treble in his live sound. At least for me.

Anyways we dig bears up in here right?

Hells yeah on Sandrider! If you haven't yet, stop what you are doing and go listen to them!

Did you play with Wolves In The Throne Room as well? I have one of their records. Indian is 100% more my thing, though. I absolutely adore Guiltless and am looking forward to buying the new one.
Yeah. I was on the live album, Black Cascade and the Malevolent Grain e.p. Indian is 100% more my thing, too. Don't miss being a part of that band or a part of the black metal scene at all.
And yeah, addiction is nasty. I've had a fair amount of friends go through it and pull out at the end. Unfortunately not everyone does.
Yep. Lost my hero growing up, my Uncle, due to complications with his addiction. In the end he died of a form of dehydration. He was three-four weeks sober at the time, fell asleep on another addict's couch, someone who wasn't looking out for him, and he never woke up. He was completely dehydrated and his body gave out. The autopsy suggested that he was going to die anyway even if he was under 24hr care. He left three kids and a wife. I have his 1993 Strat and cherish it. But of course if one of his boys ever wants it, it's theirs.

Then I saw them on that tour with Opeth (who I've accidentally seen way too many times. Not my thing). And the songs sucked live, too. Wicked lame. Esp. since Mastodon used to be absolutely incredible live. They definitely treat it more like a day job now, and its a bummer.

Also, I own that Wilco album. I listen to it once a year or so to see if I've finally "gotten it yet." So far it hasn't clicked.
That's another thing I didn't mention: the production. It was mushy and overcrowded. I didn't like the production in The Hunter at all.

And yeah, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, it's an excellent album, but it'll never be a favourite. I just appreciate how well it's written. It's one of those records I feel like I SHOULD love, but I don't. Kind of like The Shins' album Oh, Inverted World. Many of my friends include it in their top ten, as do critics, but I just don't enjoy listening to it that much. There is so much music out there I'd rather listen to.

I think one of the best new bands that came out over the last few years was Cloudeater. They only have around 30 songs that I know of and a very small fanbase, but honestly I think they could have been huge. They had an angelic and incredibly tight sound. They're an amazing band I'll never stop listening to. Sadly, though, they called it quits a few months ago, and I'm not sure why. It's not that being well known makes a band better, it's just that I'll never see them perform unless they are big enough to draw a crowd in a small country like Ireland, or even England. I would fly over to the UK to see Cloudeater, but they were never big enough to tour there.

What's with bashing Crack the Skye? That album is prog fucking gold.
Another reason the hunter sucks hard. Well, I didn't like it. Too much "meh" after the jazzaliscious happenings of the last baron.
I really like harmonicraft, it's fun. Torche still haven't toured here, so I'm hanging out for that.
Kvelertak are a band whose records I really like, but I haven't seen them live yet either. I think I was broke when they came down here.
Windhand are great, but I'm a huge sucker for those haunting female vocals. I think Soma, while very similar to their first album, has a hint that they are starting to find some things unique to them and the sound theyre refining, so I think it'll be interesting to see what they do next.
Loved opeth's heritage. So much 70s cheese. I'm kinda over their death metal stuffs, but I generally don't do much metal these days.
I should probably work on that.
Maybe.
