It's unfortunately really quiet as I did it at around 11pm at night with 3 kids asleep upstairs.

Next time you come over we should do a good volume one through your 1x12 so we can crank it.

1967 sunn 200s
Sunn beta 402 cab- 2 original guitar speakers(gotta replace these suckers) and 2 eminence delta bass speakers

here is my current rig for bass. i need to make a grill for the sunn beta 402 cab. and need to replace two more speakers with bass speakers. anyone else have one of these and could give me any reasonably priced speaker ideas? right now if i crank up the 200s the cab goes nuts and rattles i am afraid its not cut out for bass overall:/

What kind of Deltas do you have in there currently? I've got a cab loaded with a Delta Pro 12a, and another with a Delta 12LFC. Both of those together sound GODLY. Nice rich thick lows from the 12LFC, and the Pro 12a brings out the other end of spectrum while still having a nice bottom end too

Thanks. I definitely dig it. Would be great to hear how it sounds with the book thrown at the poweramp section.

Putting my talkbass pants on here.

The standard consensus seems to be that bass cabs are designed around the drivers that are intended to be used in them. Trying to mix and match drivers to existing cabs seems to be a loosing battle.

I'm really just parroting shit I've seen elsewhere but it would seem that you'd have better luck trying to find a cab that sounds good to you rather than piecemealing something together.

IMO, YMMV, Do Not Pass Go, Without the Express Written Consent of Major League Baseball.

You should open'er up and take the speakers out and reinforce everything in there. I can't remember who it is on here, possibly D.O.S. that is really good at reconditioning cabs- regluing joints, adding braces if need be. Both of which are pretty cheap options which will make the cab last for another 50 years. He'd probably have some good advice as to how to get it back to 100% though!

what is so weird is that sunn offered these as bass cabs aswell as guitar. there was a later second model 402 cab with oval shaped ports and rated at 200 watts(mine is the first model ratted 100 watt)
really bums me out! i wanted to fix this beast up and run it with bass and be a king.

It's a sweet cab dude! I think that the bracing would totally help it out and stop the rattle, and if you glued up all the joints on the inside and added some padding on the inside it would be as good as new!

I believe it is. He detailed the process in a "cab rattle/buzz" thread or something like that...
