in the band I'm playing with now, my amp at stage volume accomplishes this, so I don't need a drive pedal.

otherwise, od-3

I got to try out an Elements for a while, and really loved it's low-gain side. I know that's probably not what most people use it for, but it sounded great with just a little hint of drive.

Sure it's not just an EQ'ing issue? The Ampeg eq has a different learning curve than many amps.

But for OD, for everything, Fryette SAS.
There's been a bit of a learning curve regarding the Baxandall eq. But the mini always sounded fizzy through it no matter what eq settings the amp is on, even when the pedal is in a very low gain settings, bummer. For the first time ever I took that thing off my main board. I guess it just didn't click with the amp, but goddamn this amp sounds soooooooooooo good. Especially when you got 80% discount on top of it. I'll keep using the mini for the other amp though, no worry Brian! It'll always oooooooooooon as usual :thumb:

I really liked my GVT15H but over time I realized it hated most of my go to od/dirt/fuzz pedals. Pedals that worked well with every guitar amp combo I own and use I just couldn't make work with that Ampeg. Harsh and strange sounding is how I'd describe it, total loss of low end thump too. Which was strange as the cleans sound so nice.

The EQ is powerful and helps. Spend a fair amount of time tweaking it to death. It's a little weird cuz its a standard treble/bass baxandall with added mid-shift. Every time you move that mid setting your basically recalibrating the treble and bass controls, making them react differently. Huge amount of tone options if you're patient. Maybe a preamp tube swap would make a difference as well.

I agree with you, almost totally. The drive outta this amp is pretty bad, but the cleans are amazing. Great wide range and truly great amount of sweep of an EQ. Mine's (15w 112 combo) has a big amount of bass though, like really loud and really kicking when the bass knob cranked.. I was really surprised when I first tried it. This thing needs a warmer/darker od's in my opinion. Again, I love it and best $299 I've ever spent for a tube amp

Um... sorry to be that guy but - why not just go over the top? Lately I've used the Gnoeratron br00tz myself for the 'clean sounds' when finger picking. :animal:  Yeah, I know, I know, sorry to interrupt.

I've been really happy with my mellowtone cc/dc. Probably my oldest pedal.
